I sent a bunch of info to Clint. But the only thing I really couldn't help him with is whether his bike is Snap red or Spark red.

I THINK that Snap red is the orangier of the two, and Spark red is the brighter more pure red of the two. He has the orangier one.

Can someone tell which is which?

Al

I've always been told that my spare 'orange/red' body parts were Snap Red.

This info is from Sport Twin on 1997-1998 bikes.

Canyon Red: PPG DBC-75049. Clear DCU-2042.

Spark Red: PPG DBC-75708. Reducer DT-870.

Red Snap: PPG DBC-75050. Reducer DT-885.

note that all are a DUA base. This will make sense to a PPG dealer who will be mixing the paint.

In 1995-1996 the Red Snap paint was produced by Sikkens.
Their formula was:

Ford 87-88 code FA87:RS. with Sikkens Autoclear on top. They suggested 3 coats of each.

I have a 96 S2T I bought a while back that I am considering painting, (if I dont sell it first), so I had looked up this info from my stack of old Buell papers I had in the closet. Hope this helps.

Blake,
Can we get the above information put in the Paint section of tha KV?

This is the first time I've seen a crediable cross reference from Sikkens to PPG for some of the colors.

Thanks!

Brad

My local DuPont guy couln't find "Snap Red", so I went with Chrysler's "Viper Red"!
