Most likely, plug wires. Next likely, cracked coil.

Welcome to my hell. I sent a letter to Buell asking them to repurchase my bike after the dealer has been unable to resolve this problem after 4 tries. Brand-new bike, too.

I have had the same issue for about a year. I changed out the spark plug wires and ii did not help. A few months ago the enigne starting acting up again but this times it was really bad, I was lucky to have made it home. I am now just checking it out. I remove the coil and tested it using a multimetter Ohms test on the primary and test on the secondary. The reading on the secondary are way too high at 12.34 ohms and on the primary way to low .02 ohms. According to my manual this readings mean that the coil is bad, has a short. I'm going to puchase a coil today and some new wires as I also found my recently install wires have rubbed thru. The coil could be bad due to a short some along the wiring. So I'll also check the harness wires. At least this is a much easier task than when I replaced my own Stator.
Wish me luck.

A question for Firewhirl, regarding your resistance measurements: Are you quite certain of your units? A device capable of measuring 2 hundredths of an OHM is both expensive, rare, and very much prone to error in actual use. Do you actually have such an instrument to measure hundredths of an ohm? You realize of course that the point at which you make contact with the ignition coil primary terminals will exhibit a very large proportion of the resistance value that you have reported.
