I'm looking at the two Firebolt } offered by Buell:

http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=3&CategoryID=4&Produ ctID=2232 and
http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=3&CategoryID=4&Produ ctID=1318

Does anyone know what the differences are between these two bags? Do either of them mount by replacing the passenger seat with the bag and using the bike's seat lock mechanism? Or do they just somehow strap on?

They fit over the seat and have straps with velcro that wrap under the seat and attach.

I'm not a Firebolt owner but I believe the first one is the newer expandable one. It expands 2"

The second is the older version. Its size does not expand

Thanks - good to know. Expandable and $30 cheaper.

Do any of you guys have either of these tailbags? Can you offer a review (of sorts)? I'm also trying to decide between the two... Thanks in advance.

I realize this has been an old post but nobody responded. So just in case others are interested.

I recently bought the newer, expandable tailbag for my Firebolt.

Review:

First, it is beautifully simple. It's basically just an empty shell you put stuff in. It does expand 2 inches towards the tail end but not much.

The mounts easily on the pillion. Comes off easily too. You do need to remove the pillion to take the bag out. The mounting is clean and none of it touches the body, which is real nice.

Capacity of the bag is limited. If you think of a small tank bag, that's all there is. It is possible to stuff a wallet, cell phone, jacket liner, and a water bottle in it. That's it! In a pinch you can put thick winter gloves AND jacket liner. But you will find yourself picking and choosing things you bring.

Even with the limited capacity, I love it! It fits perfectly. It looks good. It works well enough for day rides. I'm happy with it.
