Anyone running them yet?
I am currently running pilot roads which have 4,000 miles on them and the rear just started to shelf about 1,000 miles ago. Most if not all of this is my fault as I have flat spotted it countless times on cold pavement. The dual compound construction is looking very appealing right now as I use the bike for carving as well as short highway commuting. I would definately be willing to pay for a tire that can perform well in both of these areas. Any advice would be appreciated.

Fantastic ! I'm on the second set for my Firebolt - they warm up very quickly (even when it's close to freezing outside), grip beyond my riding abilities (that's the way I like it) and IMO don't square off as much as single compound tyres, even compared to the single-compound Pilot Powers I used before.

12r,

have you noticed a difference between the 2CT and the normal Pilot Power regarding

1. Corner grip
2. Easier turning in the corner
3. Stability at high speeds
4. What about durability?

I think that the Pilot Power is the best sport tire at the moment. So is the 2CT actually better or just marketing?

Hi V,
1) Corner grip - slightly better on hot days but much better in the rain. They warm up very quickly and grip predictably from upright to full lean, but in terms of ultimate grip there's not much in it (for road use).
2) Turning - definitely - the 2CT front is like having a new front end. The feedback from the front tyre is superb, it really feels like it's working and even though mine has a few k on it, it's very easy to flick from side to side and you can change line mid-corner effortlessly.
3) Stability - the same, no problems.
4) Durability - they seem to be wearing out at the same rate but the softer shoulders are helping to maintain the profile.

FWIW, this is from Michelin:

Compounds 2 & 3 covered the front and rear tyres on the original Pilot Powers. Compound 1 is very sticky and specifically for the 2CT front.

Thanks,

It seems like I made a mistake not getting the 2CT, and staying with the normal Pilot Power.

Next time ......

I have been running a combo of Contisport front / Contiroad rear for the last 600 miles and can do nothing but rave about the feel and grip of both ends. Now saying that, I have just prepped my Firebolt for a track day this upcoming Monday with Pilot Power 2CT's believing even more grip will be required. We shall see what I think, but I don't recall ever hearing anything bad about these tires at all.

Well after my day at the Streets of Willow track day I will give those 2CT tires a big two thumbs up rating. I have nothing to say about what the characteristics of the tires are because the bike was so neutral everywhere. High speed, low speed, hard banked corner, flat corner, they just stuck and with no quirks. One of the assistants at the track told me 32frt/32rr psi and I'll say that was spot on.
