I have an 04 XB12R and I am wanting to do something custom to the bike and I really want to get the frame powder coated. The issue that has been brought up to me is that there may or may not be some sort of spray on liner on the inside of the tank that may be damaged when they have to heat up the frame to 400 degrees for the 15 minutes that it needs to cook the powder coating. Does anyone have any insight on this dilema?

Thanks,
Chris

Would it be possible to recoat the inside of the tank after the powdercoating process was done?

you can re-coat the inside of the tank, I'm not sure of the exact procedure, but I beleive it was called Kreem that we use at work. hate to say it but ask around at a couple harley-davidson dealer/shop since those wack-jobs never could learn how to coat the inside of a tank so it wont flake off, we re-do it almost on a regular basis.

It is called Kreem. It's a latex coating to help seal the porosity of the alumin. You should be able to remove the old stuff by sloshing some acetone around inside.

I'd love to expland my frame on my 05 XBS to hold more fuel...
