I have a 2004 XB9S Lightning. My brake light goes on when I apply pressure to the rear brake pedal. The light does not go on when I pull the front brake lever. Any ideas on where to start looking? The service manual wasn't much help.

check the wires at the switch on the handle bars, make sure it's plugged in all the way.

My lever switch played up the same after only 6 months use.
That was replaced under warranty though.
I couldn't find any cause before I took it to the dealer.
Could be a similar fault inside the switch?
But check the wires first, and see if you can bridge the switch to make a connection?

Good luck.
