I changing the handlebars on my wife's Duc 620i so she can reach them easier. I want to move the grips back and up. Duc 620i's have a notorious long reach from the seat to the bars, and my wife's relatively short arms makes it worse.

Do you know of anyone who's put XB Lightning handlebars on a Duc Monster 620i? Are the XB bars 7/8" diameter, like the Duc?

I've heard folks have put Monster bars on M2's, but I don't see how they fit because the M2's have 1" diameter bars and the 620's have 7/8" bars.

I sure wish there was a Buell dealer nearby, or an XB owner. Any help muchly appreciated!

Buell bars ARE 7/8" diameter, so they'll bolt in -- M2s included, btw . . . .

Thanks Bomber. I had looked at both bars and the Duc's was a bit smaller, so I assumed the M2's was 1". I calipered both last night and the Duc's was exactly 7/8" O.D., while the M2's was almost 1/8" larger, so yeh, looks like it's a nominal 7/8". Thanks again.

You might want to also transfer over the Buell front end for the ZTL brake. If you also transfer over the Buell frame you'll get more comfortable seating and better handling. Then the Buell motor would be a direct fit for a good increase in performance and easier maintenance.

Sorry, I tried but I couldn't resist.

Tim,
It's amazing how similar the 2 bikes are: Naked, tube frame, L-twin air-cooled engine, wide handlebars. The Duc 620i really feels like half a Buell. Bit it's especially fun zipping around town on the Duc. You'd want more power only if you were looking to get into trouble, which is why I prefer the Buell. Too much power is just about right. I'd have to say both are more fun around town than my Gixxer 750. Even on the back roads, I prefer the Buell over the Gixxer. But on the track, that's another story.

Bomber,
I got the he-man size handlebars. I'm just too manly for the standard 7/8" bars. They kept bending on my very approach.

I always wanted a Ducati, but haven't had enough opportunities to ride them. But since owning a couple of XB's I have become very smug. Wouldn't trade for ???

I got the M2 bars onto Katie's 620i. I was barely able to get the controls back & up far enough to fit, so it was just right. She really like the new riding position.
