When adjusting the rebound on the rear shock of my 04XB12S; I found that the adjustment screw simply spins} and does not feel as though it is seated against anything. Any thoughts to a remedy would be appreciated. | ||

This sounds normal to me. The screw spins and you feel no clicks. Just screw it in (clockwise) fully until you reach the end, but do it lightly with no force. Then un-screw (anticlockwise) as many turns as the manual recommends for your weight. Then the fun begins as you start to fine tune the suspension to suit YOU. | ||

Thanks Vagelis - But, I can spin that Screw clockwise, seemingly forever and never feel the screw bottom-out. I don't know how the internals work on the rebound screw -but I'm pretty confident that screw is no longer attached or engaging anything inside the base. Any ideas about what parts on the rear shock can be replaced - or do I need to pony up for a new shock? | ||

It takes 2-3 full turns to fully unscrew, and the rebound screw is located to the left-hand side of the bike (as you sit on the bike). If you are certain that there is something wrong with the shock, I would suggest to remove it from the bike, which is a very easy job. Then take it to a good mechanic that nows about suspension to have it rebuilt. I don't think that he will charge you more than 50-70 Euros to rebuilt it. Unless there is a major fault ..... |
