would it be sac-religious to put a non HD into my x1? I am thinking about a 955i motor and rear swingarm on mine.....

has anyone ever done this?

Yes that would be sacrilege, but since Buell motorcycles are not objects of worship, have at it. I've not heard of anyone putting any other kind of engine in a Buell.

I've not heard of any other engine in a Buell but have often wondered about such.

Not sure I'd fancy the Triumph set-up with the sss-arm though, but good luck if you go for it. Would be curious to see how it turned out.

A choice engine for me would be perhaps the 1200 Bandit motor. I've always liked the look of the old CBX 6 cylinder lump too, but the CBX I'd had my eyes on for years rotting away in a front garden under a polythene sheet recently sold for £700. That was probably a good thing otherwise I'd have been legged into another project of which my favourite I would have fancied doing, shoehorning the CBX 6 into a Slimline Featherbed frame. Traditional looks with a semi modern crazy engine. I doubt you could make a CBX engine look pretty in a Buell though as you'd most likely have to cradle it in there and that would only serve to spoil the looks. In any case, it wouldn't lean over far enough in the corners, lol.

Well, the 955i motor seems like the only choice for me right now because I REFUSE to put something japanese in there, and also refuse to put something less than 150HP with fat torque in there. The SSS-arm is a good way to extend my rear tire out 4.25 inches (I measured from bike to bike). and also it just seems like it would be a good way to keep full coverage for 350 a year. My Triumph is 3800 a year for the full.... and I HATE it. But the bike is outright scary fast.
