Hi All,

My dash indicator lights are not working properly. It shows neutral, oil light, and left turn signals ONLY. No right turn and no high beam. I am scratching my head trying figure this one out. Any suggestions?

No suggestions, but my Ulysses right turn indicator on the dash is intermittent. It acts like a bulb with a fractured filament...

The Service Manual suggests that the turn indicator is just ONE bulb that takes care of both left and right turn signals. If this is the case, then I have a problem that is more involved than a fractured bulb filament.

All of the rest of my dash indicator lamps work properly, including the left turn dash indicator.

I have not bothered to talk with my Dealer about this yet... If it is more than a just a defective bulb, I expect that it will be covered under Warranty.

Good luck to both of us!

Thanks for the post. I am pretty sure that the various indicator lights on the M2 are all different. I poked around a bit tonight - but nothing (yet). I bought this bike as a basket case - this is the LAST think left to get it back to 100% new condition (ok - have already jetted carbs and done high air flow filter <sheepish>;) but CLOSE to factory condition! : )

Funny - I also have an XB12R (which is the first Buell I have owned). In many ways - I like the M2 better even though the technology is much more dated.

Apparently the connectors for the LED lights in the dash can work themself loose. I pulled the light dash - jiggled the wires (could not figure out how to get the bulbs out) and magically, everything worked.

Ok - have jiggled all of the lights and have put close to 500 miles on the bike since last post. For no apparent reason, jiggling the lights made everything work. It was a bit of a pain - but now I have idiot lights for left turn, right turn, neutral, and high beam.

My basket case is turning out to be an AWESOME ride.

Tim,

I got a 2000 M2 in 2005 and had some minor electrical issues (horn, dash light, etc.). When I had the tank or covers off I opened the inline connectors in the wiring harness and cleaned the contacts with a brass bristled brush.

They all had some light oxidation or corrosion on them as the bike has spent its life in coastal Maine.

I also put a little Permatex Dielectric (Dielectic?) grease (a non conductive silicone grease) on the female contacts when I put them back together. That keeps moisture off the contacts and helps prevents corrosion.

You Washington State mossbacks probably know all about the need for weatherproofing on bikes, right?

No insult intended, I still have two sisters in the Tacoma area.

Jack
