Cerbero...The HD/BMC computer showed that the recall service was done on my bike as well. The difference was it was a band aid fix and not a replacement of the shock. In as much as the service bulletins said they should replace the shock if it did not meet with customer approval, I was stuck according to the computer. Trust me, I was not a happy camper with a leaking shock.

The service manager went to bat for me at Hal's and I ended up getting goodwilled. However, it should be noted that I contracted to have my shock replaced with them at full boat as it was the best deal around and it was only a few hours later when I was presented with the invoice that I was informed HD/BMC decided to extend the goodwill offer to me.

For what it is worth. YMMV

If you have the extra cash, the shock from Works Performance is a really nice upgrade.

Someone was asking for this a while back. If it's not here or you need it, drop me a note and I can mail you a copy or send it to someone to scan.

Bob:

Not heard of that one before. If you need a loaner, non-locking cap, let me know and I'll try to get one over to you to use while your's is on the way.

Can you adjust the fit with the nut on the bottom? I played with that and ground the edge of the lock tab away a little with a Dremel.

Stolen from The X-1 Files

You normally turn the key; flip up the release and turn it to pull it out. When you turn the release it is supposed to turn the whole plastic piece under the fuel cap. Unfortunately the plastic piece over time can wallow out (it no longer stays in line with flip release on the top of the cap).JB Weld it.

Boy, found this one quick!! Just had the same trouble with my '98 S1, I was gonna follow my (2nd time on the road) novice rider wife's Blast, went to top off the bikes, my darned cap won't come off!!! Glad I wasn't completely out of gas or I would've been SOL. Any ideas on how to get this thing off without taking things apart? And any way to fix this thing? Just out of curiosity I asked the dealer how much a new one was, made sure I was propped up against something when he told me

P.S. Also having other issues, please give me some feedback in the "troubleshooting" section. I think the real problem is, she's just getting back at me for not riding her enough this year (the bike, not the wife)...

I fixed my gas cap by taking it apart and building up the hole in the plastic with a Plastix brand repair kit. So far it works like new.
