I have a few questions about this. 1.) Is this the Supertrapp Can with the discs inside it? The pipe has "Buell Pro-Series" embossed on it. See a pic of the bike in my profile, also. 2.) Does it also contain packing, and if so - should I repack it? Does it need any other maintenance? 3.) If it does have the discs, can I swap them in and out without screwing up the fuel injection? I already have the Race ECM. 4.) It appears to be missing a strap. There are marks where a second strap appears to have previously been. Can I get a replacement strap from Supertrapp - or should I just get some generic muffler strap at the parts store and make it work? 5.) How much added power over stock does the Pro-Series slip-on and the Race ECM actually yield? Thanks to anyone that can help me out here. Just got the bike and I LOVE it. naustin | ||

Naustin, 1.) Yes, it has disc's inside. 2.) Yes it has packing inside. How many miles on the current packing? It's important to keep them packed properly, it acts as a dampner and keeps the power pulses from beating the muffler to pieces. 3.) Yes, you can put as many disc's as you want in there. The ECM will figure it out. General rule of thumb, fewer discs=more low end, less on top. More = louder and more topend with some loss at the bottom. 4.) You're not going to like this one. There should be 2 straps on the rear. If it was mounted improperly, they can break. Due to the dimensions of the slot holes, you cannot get another new strap in. The straps are inserted in the bracket, then spotwelded together. You will have to get a new bracket from ST or rig up a different strap system. Don't ask how I know this..... 5.) I don't remember the actual numbers but you get a big bump in the midrance. Flattens out the torque qurve quite nicely. Hope this helps. Brad | ||

Thanks Brad. The bike has 6,600 miles on it total. I have no idea how long the Pro-Series has been on the bike though. The way you describe this bracket and strap system makes me think that something else has already been rigged up. I'll have to look at it closer. It seems to be fine with only one strap - and like I said, I'm thinking now that this single strap was the solution to a previous failure. I'm pretty happy with the sound where it is. I certainly don't want it louder. If anything, I might remove a couple of discs and repack the muffler. At 65 with a full face helmet and ear plugs, i can barely hear the motor. One other issue - the slip connection where the muffler joins the header shows some soot which I'm assuming is from a small and possibly old or intermittent leak. I haven't looked at it carefully yet, but I'm assuming I can just tighten up the clamps and adjust the fit a little. Nick | ||

Nick, When the slip on is installed, it should have high temp silicon rtv on the front joint. Tightning the clamp probably won't help' It can however cause "burbling" or backfiring as the leak can lean out the mix in the pipe. I'll take a picture of my ST tonight and post it for you. When I had a SuperTrapp muffler, I ran as many discs as I could pack on an extended threaded rod. I was amazed how I could get what used to be an effective sound muffling device make my ears ring. | ||

I knew an exhaust leak at the head can screw up the mix because it is before the O2 sensor. I didn't think a leak way down there would have any affect... I'll look forward to those pics! Spreading a little RTV is something I can do myself...  And, it'll give me an excuse to check out and possibly reinforce those rear straps.  | ||

Well, the one strap the is there looks pretty heavy duty. Its made of heavy guage strap and bolted to the bracket. I'm going to let it ride by itself as it appears more than substantial enough. I didn't get the RTV sealant applied. Neil, In order to do the RTV correctly, you need to remove the ST, clean the header and muffler with a Scotchbrite pad, then slather the header and slipon connection of the ST. Slide the ST back on, get all the bolts back in (loose at first) wiggle the whole assembly to let it find it "resting spot" then tighten all the fastners. Then clean up any excess red RTV from the slip joint. I ususally let it set up over night before I ride. Brad | ||

Yeah - I have nothing of the sort.  I have only one strap where the rear strap would have been. Instead of the black triangular bracket, the strap simply bolts directly to the frame. The strap is about twice has heavy as those straps... I'll get a picture and maybe do the RTV tonight... | ||

Nick, You can order the bracket and clamps from ST. Should be around $50 if memory serves. | ||

Nick, I don't think that's going to last long. That's the same type of strap setup that was first used on the Boss pipe. It didn't work for long. Save your sheckles for the ST version. Brad | ||
