Ok, I have a service manual but no torque wrench and I had to change my tires. The axles were all corroded and stuck but I got them out and graesed them before I put them back in but I figured as long as they were tight the pinch bolts would keep them from coming out so I just snugged them down real good. But then I got to thinking it might be smashing the wheel bearings, so is that possible? I think the service manual said something like 40 lbs but Im not sure how tight that is. thanks

If the wheel is rotating freely and well, you are probably fine.
