that can work on the track (ie 360 zipper).

The ideal jacket would be similar to the Mark2 Cobra from vanson, but with the full zipper instead of the 8 inch.

Heik Greicke makes 1 jacket that seems to fit the bill, but I'm not sure how its ventilation is for summer (the tricky or something like that)

FirstGear also has one that fits the bill, pricey (not quite vanson pricey), but is it vanson quality?

There are about a million Joe Rocket jackets that would fit the zipper bill, how are they for cooling in summer and warmth in winter. How is the protection?

What other brands should I look at?

Thanks

Wes, Try www.newenough.com They have excellent reviews of the gear. Great photo's and any other info you might need to make a sound purchase. I don't think one jacket can do all a year round rider needs. I have a Teknic Chicane fully perforated jacket ($169 now) and just got the Joe Rocket 990 Jacket ($219 now). The Teknic is for the HOT days and the JR is for everything else. The armor is better in the JR but it is removeable so you can buy better armor where available. Both Jackets would have you up to the price of a Vanson without armor. Right now Vanson has a closeout section on their page and I seriously considered the Spider Jacket. But with armor it'd be close to $500. NUTS

I like firstgear leather myself. I have their "speedfreak" 2-piece suit. Firstgear is an offshoot of Hein Gerrike <sp>

My suit is perforated leather with zip in full sleeve insulated liners. It is at least 3 season in the mid-west.

I agree with watching newenough.com for deals, as well as: motorcyclecloseouts.com and motorcycleleatherexchange.com.

Probably shouldn't even mention this on a motorcycle site but I really try not to send my American $'s to China. It's too early to notice now, but soon we may well have a real problem trying to feed all the Americans who lost their jobs to cheap imports.

My jacket was made in Pakistan. Not to be too much of a smart arse but, I think you're fighting a losing battle. I try to buy American wherever possible but it is cost inefficient. NUTS
