Every time I deal with my dealership, they never cease to amaze me with their infinite wisdom. First time I had a problem, it was with the primary nut and they kept telling me the loud ass noise was from the newly installed synthetic oil. Had to pay someone for the work since they wouldn't do it.

Now I just called them to find out about tuning and they said they cannot tune the ECM. They would have to get a download from Harley to be able to change anything on the ECM. The other option is to get a Power Commander. THis is bullshit!! Power Commander, to my knowledge, doesn't even make a programmer for the new buells.

This is getting rediculous. Can someone give me some advice on getting this thing tuned? I really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars paying for software that I will only ever use once and not to mention, I have no idea how to use to begin with.

Thanks

The dealer cannot legally tamper with the ECM on our bikes. That doesn't mean it can't be done. Just that your dealer is not willing to do it.

Contact Al at American Sport Bike; maybe he can help.

Well, he needs to tell me that then.

I contacted Al and he mentioned the DirectLink software and told me that the Techtronic system is too broad of a unit and many don't like it.

Is it a piggy back system?

Yes, the Techlusion, or TFI is a piggyback unit.

The Direct Link system is a much better choice.

Yes, they probably should have told you it's against the law, or that they were not interested.
Either way the dealer's ignorance or lack of interest is no excuse for jerking around.

The DL is probably a better solution than the TFI. However expect to spend $500 or more to get it dialed in to your liking.

What about the Techlusion do people not like? I am not a tuner and only want to add a little fuel to the mixture for low and mid range WOT. Will the Techlusion not be able to do that?

I have used a techlusion on my bike and I can tell you it's pretty hard to dial in. You can tune with it, however you will need more advanced equipment to get it dialed in right. ( Wideband O2). Like Brian said in a thread long ago "Band aid"
I am currently using a PC III to get my bike dialed in as close as possible until I can afford the Direct Link. what combination are you running?

Stock ECM with an Econo Drummer. I actually think what's happening is at WOT, it's too rich for a second until the valve opens up totally. I tried opening up the valve and running it, but it made it worse. Tried it with it closed and it was also worse.
