Well, it's been a while since installing my Econo Drummer. Someone contacted me and asked what I thought of it, so I thought I would post my results.

I have put about 1200 miles on the bike since I installed the Econo Drummer. The ike sounds great. I had drastic power hesitation in the lower and mid RPM range at first. Some of that went away, but not all of it. It still dogs a bit in the lower and mid RPM range.

I feel that I have actually lose horsepower with the Econo. When I first got the bike, I could flip the throttle and easily bring the front end up, now I crank on the throttle from full off to full on in first gear and the front end may come off the ground 2 inches and sets right back down immediately.

If I could go back and do it again, it would have been the regular Drummer with the race ECM. Because the Econo Drummer has the active valve in it, I guess I can't get the race ECM to correct the horsepower problem. The stock ECM just can't adjust enough to the Muffler.

Anyone have any suggestions or comments?

I'd say you pegged it. If you are running the stock ECM with the econo durummer with the valve then you are probably running lean.

Have you tried pinning the valve open and using the race ECM? It should yield better results.

I thought about doing that. Not sure how I would do it though. I am assuming that with the tension let off, it's closed.

BTW, I didn't think these ECMs were programmable. Is that something that was not availabvle at first and is now?

Direct Link is the software that allows reprogramming, and it came on the scene earlier this year. Good stuff.

Al at American Sport Bike, and Terry (Buelldyno_guy) are working up a catalog of maps for different combinations of
set-ups if you buy the software from them. Very nice, it saves a lot of time on the dyno for the users. It's not cheap,
but it's much better than the "one size fits all" Race ECM's we've been using : )

The "electronic jet kit" wouldn't do it?

What all parts are needed for the software. I see a few different parts. If it costs more than $300 for the kit, I would be better off getting it dyno tuned, no?
