Hi can anyone tell how to separate the fork leg after the damper and spring has been removed the clip and dust seal i cant see how to get the slider out so as can replace seal. Any help please | ||

Managed to get it apart didn't like knocking it to hard. BUT one more thing people talk about spring compression but with the leg out the top nut just undone there was no spring compression there. the bike was serviced at 10,000 and has 12,000 on it now. anyone had the same as this. | ||

I'm ignorant on the issue. Does your service manual not describe in enough detail the disassembly process? Loosening the nut may well release the spring preload. That would be nice compared to some forks that send parts flying if you are unprepared for the sudden springing forth as the nut is fully disengaged. | ||

No sudden springing forth... You compress the spring in whatever fashion you like and then remove that upper assembly. As you release the spring compression with your chosen method of said compression it releases all the tension (seems how you've just removed the part that used to compress it. Essentially... The top piece is what gives the spring it initial compression, and you have to remove it with the spring compressed about 1/2" or so (so you can hold the damping rod assembly with a wrench) and when once you've removed that part there's nothing to compress the spring. |
