I have yet to pick them up but I have searched quite a bit and from what I can find the Phillips Vision Plus sold in Europe is a great light. It lasts longer than the Silver Star lights and does not have the blue tint like the Silver Stars which actually kills some of the output of light. You can find them on Ebay for 25.00 for a pair occasionally, but they have to shipped from Europe.

Later,
Bart

If $ is not a problem just go full HID.

The lights are cooler (temperature) and use less power.

I couldn't be happier with mine.

aerostitch.com has as close to a plug and play HID system as you can get.

I'm going to be going to HIDs on my 2006 XB12R and had a thought. Remove the high beam assembly and replace it with a low beam assembly. So I'll have two lowbeams that I'll keep on all the time for a "balanced" look instead of having one really bright light (the high beam) and one that's stupid-dim (the low beam). So my question is... anyone see a problem with having two HID low beams?? Or any other problems with my theory??

Also, is Aerostich the place I should buy the HIDs? I'm a bit challenged when it comes to mechanical/electrical upgrads, but can usually get the job done. So I would like a quality, small, easy to install system.

Any help on either of these two points would be killer.

It's not a bad idea. My normal high beam adds maybe 10% (if that) to the overall light since I put on the HID for the low beam. Two low beams with HIDS would be very safe and very usable... just so long as they were aimed low.

That would probably let you use a car kit as well, which might get you two lights for as much as you would pay for a single motorcycle specific kit.

You would loose the "flash to pass" feature. I kind of like it, but I think few people actually use it.

I can't comment on where to get them, the place I bought them from is not a board sponsor.

Is there a difference between the motorcycle specific kits and the car kits? I can't tell from my searching if there's a difference. So far I like the prices/product at xenonexpert.com. Are they a site sponsor?

Please do, Bombadier. Also I'll be interested to hear where you mount the balasts.
