I'm having a tough time finding a 36 mm allen socket for the XB rear axel ('06 Uly). Any ideas, prices? Thanks in advance.

I had similar experience, happened to find one at either Advance Auto Parts or Auto Zone ( don't recall which ) It was part of their tool use program, basically you buy it and when you return it you get a refund. Credit card makes it easy. It's labeled an axle nut socket. Lots of other tools that you might not need that often. I wound up keeping it, price was under $20.00

I am looking for one as well, would rather have it than rent it. BUELL Service Manual says it's a 7/8" hex head socket, right? Any quick links?

Hey, hey, hey, just looked in the stock toolkit under the seat and found the hex nut axle tool,

Now I just need the right size hex key for the pinch bolt, Discount Auto should have that...

NEVER MIND, that nut was never meant to take any torque and actually loosen the axle. It just sheared into two pieces at the weld. Back to square ONE, still looking for a 7/8" hex head and maybe an air drive to loosen it up. It seems to be on there pretty tight from the last folks who did the tire change.

If you have the correct size spark plug socket you can just remove the rubber piece
inside it, put it on an extension backwards and you're all set. cheaper than a
dedicated 7/8 allen socket too.

I made my own by taking a bolt with a 7/8" hex head, and added 2 nuts to it and silversoldered the whole thing together. It worked out really well and became another welcome homemade tool in my toolbox.

The title of this thread is all wrong..36mm is the socket size used for a tube frame axle, not an XB. They are tough to find at your local HW stores, so we sell those here: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/5199.html

But for the XB, this tool works really well: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/9153.html
