Hello all, I have a 98 Thunderbolt s3. I removed my throttle control assembly temporarily and have since installed it. Now my throttle sticks when I open and close it. However, if I loosen the bolts that hold the assembly together there is normal free play on the throttle. There are no obstructions in the assembly, everything is where it should be. My questions: do I need to adjust the throttle cables? Do the throttle cables need adjustment after you remove the throttle control assembly everytime? The reason I ask is because when I removed the assembly I DID NOT remove the throttle cable adjusters b/c I did not need the assembly to come off the bike entirely. Because of this, I don't see why the throttle cables would not work the same way it did before I removed the assembly. I have a Mikuni carb that's for the buell (not from sportster) (Message edited by italialaw on May 30, 2006) |

Chances are a cable may have slipped off the drum winder and it's getting pinched against the housing when tightening down the screws. Also check and see if a cable may have slipped out of its holder on the carb end of the cables. |
