My bike was hit while parked and the tank was dented in by the foot peg of the bike to the right of it. When I lifted it off, the dent popped out, but there is still a slight wrinkle/indent on the tank. Insurance only cover 55% of the cost of the tank because the claim it can be repaired. Is this true? Can a plastic tank be repaired. Sorry, I don't have a photo at this time. Suzy PS This site ROCKS! | ||

If the insurance thinks it can be repaired, tell them that if it's not repaired to your 100% satisfaction, it will have to be replaced. Then go ahead and let them attempt to repair it. When it's done, be very critical and if there's the slightest hint that there was ever a problem, reject it. If they know ahead of time that you will not accept anything less than 100%, and that you will be very critical, then they may just go ahead and replace it. State Farm insisted on repairing my front bumper when somebody backed into me. Between me rejecting the repair and the body shop rejecting four brand new bumpers because of defects in the chrome, it cost the insurance a bundle in repair and rental car coverage. Steve. | ||

I went to a dealer and talked to them. They said that the only way is to replace the tank, so I am going to get that in writing and should get the rest of the $$ for my tank. Then I will wait and see if it starts to spider web out....hopefully it won't! |
