If your exhaust has a HAIR LINE leak could that cause it to have alot of quick small popping going on during decel? If so. Is it bad? what is a good method to look/check for the leak? If the leak is where the exhaust can mates up to the manifold...would tape there around the manifold help out? Thanks | ||

from what I have read on hear yes it can cause popping out your exhaust but not your carb. cover end pipe while its running you should be able to hear the leak. I'm going to try some red type of silicone stuff at home depot and put it in the joints and reassemble. It's made for high heat. | ||

SGthigg, Yes, a leak in the exhaust ports, header, or muffler could cause popping on decel. See the pics of my pipe on the thread titled "KOOKS cracked." Use WD40 to check the leak or the "napkin" test (if the napkin blows you've got a leak. Don't use tape. Re-adjust your header and muffler and use buell tapered exhaust gaskets in the exhaust ports. | ||

my Drummer doesn't mate perfectly with my header, i get a tiny hole on the front side where the slit is cut in the pipe for it to adjust. just doesn't slip all the way on. to plug the leak i use high-temp copper RTV in the slits on the pipe as well as a nice bead above/below the torca clamp. works and last great. |
