I'm trying to determine if the "feel" of a friends `05 XB12R is normal or indicative of an underlying problem. When downshifting, it feels as if the shifter is connected through a rubber link. Upshifts feel positive and "mechanical", just like my S3T in fact. The only other `05 XB12R I have ridden was a demo bike at last years Homecoming and it did the same thing. I informed the staff and they said that they would check it (the demo bike) and I was not lead to believe that this was something that had never occurred before. My friend said that, prior to the 1K service, he had to slow to 5~10 mph to downshift into first without grinding. I did the clutch adjustment at the 1K service per factory spec and he said the downshifts have improved "a little" but complains that the clutch engagement is too far off the bar (lever out too far). Do I need to pull the clutch and rotor and do a pawl adjustment or is it something else. The shift feel should be like any other Buell, right? Aside from slightly more shifter effort due to the shifter/linkage setup. Comments? Suggestions? Quick fixes? Not-so-quick fixes? (Bike is still under warranty, and will be in Appleton, WI in ~21 days). Oz |
