I am looking at buying the pro-series race kit for my 2000 M2. Is this kit any good and how is the header muffler combo? Anybody had experience with this kit. I am mostly concerned with power, however I am at odds with my neighbors right now so I am also on the market for how loud the exhaust can be. I am looking for opinions on the kit not including the price. I can get this very cheap brand new. Thanks Chris | ||

Chris: The kit is great. I have the full kit on my 2000 S3T. After about 3500 miles, you'll have to repack the muffler because it gets very loud. I also think the bike runs better with the packing in the muffler. Mark | ||

I just purchased the Buell race kit for my 2002 M2 and noticed that the exhaust can uses the supertrapp disc system. Any recomendations as to the number of disks that I should use for a race kitted stock bike for the best power and/or the best compromise between power and a reasonable sound level. | ||

David, I have the same slip on for my 2000 M2. I put them all in! 15 if memory serves. The Supertrapps are not that loud, just a nice deep rumble. Good mid range performance. Brad | ||

The race kit exhaust for your bike should include a header and muffler, which is NOT the Pro Series Supertrapp. The Pro Series Supertrapp is a slip-on which attaches to the stock header. The race kit for your bike should be P/N 82001-01YA and includes header, muffler, air cleaner and ignition module. The Supertrapp is the "Pro Series" P/N 65012-01Y and uses the stock header. If all you bought was the Pro Series Supertrapp, Battle2win's exhaust shootout recommended using all the discs that come with it. | ||

Blu/Capt I received the race kit in the mail yesterday and it had the correct part number and included a header, muffler, airbox and module. I just assumed that the race kit muffler was manufactured by supertrapp because of its internal disk system. Do you guys recommend that I use the race muffler with all the disks installed? Blu I hope your son is fairing well in his first duty assignment. DRW | ||

DRW, Once again...?????????? The race muff that should have been included with your kit is P/N 91424-99YA and should be a glass pack with no internal discs like the Trapp...unless it's been superseded. Can anyone clarify, as I'm in the process of installing my race kit as we speak? Thanks. | ||

The earliest of Buell race kits had Supertrapp car mufflers, I think. But by 2002, they all had the somewhat industrial looking Buell can. I'm not aware of any late model race kits having the old supertrapp auto muffler. Is the race header that came with this kit the over the frame style or under the frame style? | ||

Cap/Al Sorry my bad. I had not looked closely enough at the muffler. It is part # 91424-99YA There is no disk system and it is in fact the rather industrial looking Buell can. Based on the straight through design of this can I suspect it will be hideously loud. I am considering Jet Hot coating the header do you guys see any potential problems or downsides. DRW | ||

Personally I don't find a well packed race kit all that offensive. You'll need to keep on top of the repacking to keep it that way though. When fully packed it has a relatively mellow sound - certainly not as loud as some of the alternatives like the D&D. There is nothing to touch the race kit in terms of power - there are significant gains to be had in the header - particularly for those of us in Europe who have a header with a 2" collector as a starting point. | ||

The race kit gives an amazing difference in throttle response mid and top end. We've got a '98 S3T with the complete race kit, and a '98 S3T with just a V&H slip-on. The difference is night and day. | ||

The race kit muff is not as loud as looking through it would lead you to believe. My brother is running one in his M2 as well, and it's got a nice tone-loud enough to let you know there's some ponies there, but not obnoxiously loud like the Force pipe. Personally, I don't think I'd Jet Hot the pipe as it will turn a nice golden color once you get a few miles on it, but of course, this is your choice. Good luck! |
