I've finally got most all of the bugs worked out. Running the correct spark plug 906. Might could use about 1-2 less degrees of timing.

Right now at crusing around town and full throttle accelerating I am running rich. ABout 11.8:1 through 13:1 instead of the correct 14: ]. Only the idle setting is perfect.

Bike runs perfect with loads of power. Little black soot on the swingarm.

Manual says to use a leaner needle to fix the off idle-1/4 throttle richness. But I am allready using the leanest 98 needle.

I've read that the extra richness helps keep the chamber and plugs cooler. But will foul plugs more often.

Whats the fix or not to worry???

current setup

x1 with xb stage 3 heads, 30 degree domed, CP pistons 13:1 compression, force intake and exhaust, twintec ignition with VOES, lucas octane booster, HSR42 carb, Andrews N80 high lift cam.

i think its got a 20 pilot and a 165 main jets. 98 needle on clip number 2. I think I should raise the clip to position number 1.

that set-up on paper looks lean to me, as I'm running something similar, but not quite as wild. A hilliard storage unit port job, 10 over pistons, 11:1 comp, same intake, carb, and exhaust with 536's and I found a 25 pilot - about 3.5 turns out on the air fuel adjust, 167.5 main, and a 96 needle one notch from the bottom seems to work good for me. I know its been a while but have you gotten it figured out yet?

Ceejay, according to the Mikuni tuning guide, you should change your pilot jet to a leaner one. This should give you more range in adjustability in the air mixture screw.
