I have the cable all ready to take off and replaced but im stuck at removing the cable from the clutch. I have an 2002 M2. What is the most simple way to do it? | ||

M202: Get youself a FACTORY MOTORS MANUAL and PARTS BOOK for your year/model ... It has all the "INFO" you will ever need, PLUS it has plenty of PICTURES which are worth a THOUSAND WORDS per PICTURE ... It has the INFO to reset your clutch adjustment up ... | ||

Shaun; how far did you get? Easier to explain if we know where to start, so to speak. Not really a big problem as long as you have the appropriate tools - the T27 torx wrench to remove the clutch cover is usually what folks are missing. Oh, and the service manual is your friend  Henrik | ||

Screw the clutch lever freeplay adjuster (by the frame downtube) all the way in, that makes the lever floppy and useless at the bar. With clutch cover off, 1 - Remove spring and locking nut, 2 - Then turn adjusting screw CW until the adjusting nut backs out and can be removed. 3 - Pull the clutch actuator out and away from the clutch. Manipulate the actuator until you can unhook the coupler. Don't let go of the coupler and cable end or it will fall inside. 4 - Remove the coupler. The cable can now be unscrewed from the primary cover and removed. You may have to help it by rotating the cable housing to defeat the curve that has set into it. The fragile, aluminum, threaded shank on the cable will seem unnecessarily long. Put a drip pan on the floor, primary lube may run out. Jack |
