Anyone out there have any suggestions on where to purchase a new battery for a 2000 X1? Gotta be a better way than paying HD $80.00 for one. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron

I run the Odyssey PC-545MJ battery on my X-1. The only issues I have with it are if I don't start the bike for a few weeks, it has to be re-charged. The size is a little smaller and it weighs a little less than the stocker as well, but it hooks right up and works great.

Oh, I dunno -- I just bought the my new batt from HD, for about $80 -- considering the old one was the factory original (build date early 2000), and it wasn't really dead quite yet, that about 15 buck a year -- not too shabby, yes?

Wasn't the origional battery made by AGM? There are several on....I hate to say it...E-bay that are claiming to fit the X1 and 250 CCA. If it is the same battery for less than half the price, wouldn't that be the way to go? helps me save some coin to further this project. Just a though. Let me know guys.

Thanks again,

Aaron

Here's the Battery on E-bay that I thought was the same. Let me know.

Original battery in my 99X1 lasted 5 yrs. Replacement GS e-bay battery 5 weeks. Bought a replacement from H/D lasted 9mos. Bought another H/D and got 6mos. The charging system checks out fine. I have now installed a Yuasa sealed unit and time will tell. It was $80 + $20 for the tow from The Motorcycle Pit Stop in Deals Gap.
My 97 S1 is on its 2nd H/D battery and has been okay. Go Figure!

Am still on the original HD/Buell battery that came with my 2000 X1 and it is still going strong.

Never had any other motorcycle batteries last more than two or three years. Needless to say, if and when I replace it, it will be with another HD/Buell battery.

I would not put that ebay battery in my Buell. If you have to go aftermarket, make sure the terminals are in the right places, the size is right, and the battery is a very high quality absorbed glass matt type.

When you try and do that, you will discover the Harley / Buell battery is a fair deal for the price.

My Cyclone Harley AGM batteriy lasted at least 5 years, no problem.

By the way, AGM is "Absorbed Glass Matt", a technology, not a brand. It means all the "stuff" in the battery is absorbed into a static matrix already. Less stuff moving, less stuff leaking.

Thanks for the info guys. Bought a battery from HD and slapped it in yesterday. Bike never started so well before. Looking at the original battery, it's got the exact markings as the ones on e-bay but what's done is done and I am going to go out and ride now.

Thanks again guys!
