Hello,
I need a new rear pulley for my 2000 M2 Cyclone. I'm having some trouble finding one. Does anyone know if a Sportster pulley of the same year would work? It would be great to be able to pick any after market pulley for my Buell. The local Buell dealer didn't know if an XL pulley would fit.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Hey.
It won't fit, because of the different hub diameters, but you can skim the inner diameter of the Sportster pulley to Buell size.Arrengement of the bolt holes and all the rest is identical.

"skim the inner diameter of the Sportster pulley to Buell size"

Could you elaborate on this a little please.

I see fancy pulleys for sale all the time for Sportster, like billet this, and chrome that... They typically say either for up to 99 sportsters, and a different model for 2000+ sportsters. Anybody know the difference between these?

You're saying neither will fit Buell? As they come?

I see Trojan Horse sells the Rizoma pulley, for example, and I see it on another web-site as listed for a Sportser, year not specified.

This is all confusing...

HD changed the hub size in 2000, because of the use of maintenance free bearings.
Both sizes won´t will fit Buell hubs.
Buell hubs are bigger, respectively wider.
Again, you have to lathe the inner diameter out to make them fit.

Thanks everyone!
I got my new pulley so the next question is: How is it mounted? Do I need to pull the wheel bearings or is the pulley pressed on in any way? Or, is it just a simple unbolt old and bolt on new?

Thanks

Suave -- remove the wheel, unbolt the old pulley, bolt on the new one, install the wheel, and enjoy -- easy peasy

the pulley bolts are pretty darned tight (as you would hope) -- a lil heat or an impact gun will be helpful (repeat, SMALL amount of heat, very localized)
