The fit on my 99 X1 tank cover is very poor - the cover is about 1/4" high on the rear of the filler cap (see http://members.rogers.com/sniderj/x1tank.jpg ). Tried adjusting rear tab, side cover rear mounts, and pushing down before tightening. Is there a trick I'm missing? TIA; John | ||

John, That rubber ring is a tight fit, I usually lave the tank cover loose and press it on all the way around before fastening the cover. It seems like it will never fit, but it does. Do you have 2 of 4 front screws holding the cover down? Jeff | ||

The front tabs (2) have screws, and the rear tab has both screws in it. The breadboxes also have all the screws in, and have been pushed down as far as possible. Thanks; John | ||

Rick, Post a pic of it on the bike. I like the way that looks. I was thinkin' about doing something like that with mine, but I just sent my parts to my father-in-law in MI to have him paint them. It was a good weekend for bike work here in FL because it was FREAKIN' COLD!!! | ||

It looks frikkin' mean on the bike. I love it...but I don't have a scanner here so it'll have to wait 'till I get a picture CD made. It's cool...some side affects are that I can now plant both feet firmly on the ground (as opposed to tip toes), my fuse box is still covered but very easily accessible, and I have to be careful that I don't rest my leg on the rear cylinder head for too long  . It felt narrow sitting on it before...and now it's even more so. | ||

Yeah...riding out at 6 this morning I was afraid of frostbite on my chin  ...my jaw literally got stiff from the cold air coming up under my helmet. It's still pretty nice now. You're more than welcome to come up if you'd like. It's a subtle mod that makes a dramatic change in the appearance. Best of all...it only took me about 15 minutes to lay out and about 20 mins total to cut and refinish it. What took longest was deciding what and where to cut to begin with. | ||

Has anyone seen the Givi windscreens A755 or A760 on any Buells? How do they look? I was considering the A760 for an early M2 for more weather protection this winter. | ||

Roadrunr: Thanks for the Shots Roadrunr, looks good, now, is this the A755, or A760 on the M2? Did you have to noodle with it a bit on the install, or was it pretty straight forward as it came. It also looks like you have a A750 on your X1 Which also looks pretty good. Do you notice significant improvements on the wind coverage on the two different fairings? You got me wondering about the choice now! | ||

That's the 755 on the M2 and the 750 on my X1, I would go with at least the 755. The 760 would probably give you the best coverage. The only difference I can see is they just get a little wider from 750 to 760, still look cool though. Wind coverage is close to the same on all but night and day compared to the stock pooper scooper you have now. | ||

I happen to have a 760 that I purchased to mount on my M2 but I ended up buying a S3 and stopped the project. If you want it we might be able to work out a deal.. David Ingle 99 M2 99 S3 | ||

Thanks Dave Well, I just ordered a A755 today, I started to order the A760, but thought it might look out of place on a 97 M2 since it looks so wide, and the rest of the bike is narrow, what do you think? If the deal is right, and if I can cancel my order, then I might consider it. I'm trying to get it before the 24th of the month for a ride. Email me, and we can discuss it. I need your opinion. | ||

Not sure if this is the right place but.... Is there any way to polish metal ceramic coated header pipes? I bought an S3 that has the silver coated headers. They're beginning to show signs of rust. I'm afraid of damaging the coating by not using the correct method to clean. Thanks for any help!! Mennis | ||

Lake you can wet sand it to a high luster again or if its not bad you can use Flitz I used this product on my ceramic coated stock header it works great now I have to get my race header done that I just recently installed. | ||

I'm a first time poster. Does anyone know the safest/easiest way to remove the Black paint from my stock 96'S1 rear hugger? I'm afraid doing the wrong thing, will fog the Carbon Sheen. What is best? Secondly, will a X1 shifter set fit my 96'S1. Also does anyone know of any Carbon Fiber covers for a 98'S1/m2 tank(Manta? "Big" 5gal.) I found a spot in Cal. that fabricates but, for a high Price.
