I traced the wiring for "Old Blue" #4. Hope it is useful to others. Contact me via email if you require a larger image.

Wow! Great work, I hope it didn't change much by 91.
Do you know more about the fuel solenoids? If say, the wires were disconnected, what goes where and which is reserve? I need to re-attach mine.
Thanks, Josh

The connector is shaped as shown. If you pulled the pins out of the connector, the pointed end of the connector is ground to both solenoids. The middle to reserve, with the last to the main solenoid.

I can look this weekend as to where each solenoid is located on the tank.

NOTE: I drained my tank from the main solenoid. Switched it to reserve, and almost no fuel came out. In other words, I don't believe there is a difference between the main & reserve. When the tank goes dry, it's dry!

I do not know if my wrench removed the wires from the solenoids, I know he did not remove the tubes yet, so maybe there is hope ;)

My reserve and main tubes were clogged from the liner flaking off and thus my reserve wasn't much, but with the repairs I expect to have a usable reserve.

Josh:
I am so glad you asked me this question. My gas solenoid connector was wired wrong. (Ground to Red & Main to Ground.) Likely swapped the wires @ the factory. I now have reserve, although it is only about .25 gallon.

To answer your questions:
* It does not matter which solenoid wire goes to power. Either way will pull the valve open and allow gas to flow.

* While sitting on my bike, the Left solenoid is the Reserve.

Nice.
Thanks.
I hope to have mine back on the road this weekend after I finally get my bars swapped the and the tank reinstalled.
