Many oils are compatible for both compression ignition (CI) and spark ignitions (SI) - notably Mobil 1. Since an air cooled engine runs with greater clearances at the piston / bore, there is more blowby and hence contamination of the oil. CI oils have greater detergent properties to capture and suspend the contamination so it can be filtered out. Hence, the requirement to use CI specific oils.

You'll notice a difference if you try to use SI oils in a diesel.

I'd recommend the use of Mobil1, which is both CI and SI approved. Look for the "API Starburst" to make sure you are putting the right oil in all your engines.
