I've got an '04 XB12S and am installing a K & N filter with open box, Race muffler and Race ECM.
Is it ok to trash the stock exhaust valve hardware? You know, the servo, cables & wires.
I'm getting contradicting stories on using the race ECM. Some say it cures the "Check Engine" light when you disconnect, other's say you HAVE to keep it plugged in?
Please help? Thanks!

CC, if you're using the race ecm you good to go on trashing the valve hardware. The race ecm doesn't control the valve at all, only the stock ecm...

Thanks Kevin, I was hoping that was the case. There's so little room on that XB12S, I can't even find a spot to locate the Scorpio i500 security system, and the control module is only about the size of a pack of cigarettes.
I'm thinking of putting it where the exhaust servo is now.

Ccemn1, about that alarm, I have the same one on the same bike, and I got everything to fit under the seat without any issues. I did however remove the tool pouch. It is nice back there, real close to all the wiring you'll need to tap into.

Coturi, You wouldn't happen to have any Pic's you could post, or email me, would you?
I was experimenting today. I tried under the fly screen, reversing the horn to the other side, but it was just too tight with everything else in there. Then I had a stroke of brilliance and figured I could mount it under the air box cover, as I'm running the open air box with a K & N.
If possible though, I'd really prefer not to disrupt the air flow under there, if possible.
Thanks for the info just the same! Tomorrow I'll have to check out that tool kit space.
