I've had my Uly for a couple of weeks now. I really need a set of top loading 41L panniers so I can ride to work. I can't find anything available. I NEED HELP.
Thanks for any suggestions

Try looking at the Cortech Sport bags. I have these and they work very well. The saddlebags I don't use often, but the tail bag I use all the time. It even fits my laptop easily when I ride to work.

www.newenough.com usually has them for good prices.

Just wondering why 41 liter panniers? The Uly bags are 42 liters and you can carry a helmet in them. The bags are available now. There are liners available also. Touratech is supposed to be coming out with panniers later this year.

I need top loading panniers to carry tools for work,(I'm an electrician). With side hinged bags it's much more difficult to load loose items to the bags full capacity. I have some Cortech soft saddle bags but with no rear body panels on the Uly they don't there is nothing to support them.

The company that makes the hard cases for the Uly (German company - name escapes me at the moment) makes top loading panniers. Others have mentioned that the brackets for the Uly will fit the other panniers from that company.

There was even someone here on Badweb that posted a picture.

Take a look through the Big Bad Dirty section. You should be able to find something in there. Besides, there are few aftermarket companies that make top loaders for the Uly:

Hepco Becker makes a model called "Gobi" that will mount right up to the stock bracketry. Another Uly owner is using them. Let's see...

Here it is...

I think I'm going to go with Happy Trails panniers. The "Gobi" panniers are double wall so even though they look huge they have a limited internal volume.
Thank you for the info.

Careful with assumptions...

The H&B Gobi side cases have an advertised capacity of 37 liters each.

Even for their largest 9"x14"x16" "Owyhee" cases, the Happy Trails capacity would be significantly less at 33 liters.

If max capacity is most important, then maybe the H&B 45 liter aluminum cases would be the ticket.

Being able to use the standard mounting bracketry that has been tried and tested may be worth some added consideration too.
