"YES", BUT why would you want to replace the 2001 swingarm with a 1997 swingarm ???

You'll need the mounting plate from the '97 swingarm.

Do you want to swap swingarms? I have a '98 that I'd swap for the '01.

the swingarm for a 97 is, I believe the same as a 98, with that in mind, I recently purchased a 2000 x1 aluminum swingarm and engine block mount complete and installed it as a mere bolt on afair. Conversly, why would not the opposite be just as do'able. Although there is one point of interest, and that is that a later 'aluminum' swindarm pivot block needed clearancing if used with a steel swingarm 'block' pivot engine mounting block. However looking at both very closely as they were both on the ground before installing, to determine if there were any vissable diferences, I could see no difference. I looked at and compared boss per boss, angle per angle, web per web, etc. and it escaped me as to the differences, however it has been said from people framilier with this mod that there is infact some limiting diffefence between the two 'blocks'. By 'block' I mean the swingarm pivot block, which bolts to the 4 bolt mounting points of the Buell engine, and not 'block' as meaning the engine, or engine block 'crankcase'. So the longwinded botom line is if you want to persue the extended fat tire thing, then yes your steel swingarm....and pivot block should mount to your later frame with no alterations. Next line of thought is how to mount brakes?
