I am reworking a Keihin CV using the recommendations of various posters on here and around the net. While surfing for the parts, I come across a "C.C. Rider® 'CV' Carburetor Accelerator Pump Upgrade" as shown here... http://www.chopperscycle.com/page/vts/PROD/29150 I haven't found any comments on this anywhere even though it's listed on many retail sites.

Is this the same as the check valve equipped accelerator pump on the newer sportsters?

Anybody do this mod before?

Does it seem like a worth while improvement?

TAKE THE ACCELERATOR "BUELLschitte" OFF as you do not need it !!! That is one of the first "PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS" "i" did to my CARB.(97S3T) !!!

By the way if you hav a 2000 S3 it should have FUELL INJECTION ???

Yes it does currently have fuel injection plus a PCIII - I'm tired of the problems. I'm going to spoof the IAT, TPS, fuel pump, and injectors and install a carb instead. I've considered all my options and decided this is the most economical fix that will assure me of a tunable system that I can work with.

So when you say take it off, do you mean eliminate the stock accel pump that is currently in the carb? No accel pump at all is needed in a modified CV? Not saying your wrong but haven't read this before.

Remove the ROD,accelerator pump and plug the Rod
hole ... Leave the DIAPHRAGM where it is as it not to be removed ...

Start set up on CARB. with the IDLE MIXTURE SCREW 2 1/2 turns from seat, 48 LOW SPEED JET, and a 200 HIGH SPEED JET ...

Hmm.... this is an interesting idea. I know that the pump kit above must put out less fuel than the stock accel pump because it says it will improve fuel econ on a modified carb. Never thought to actually remove the pump all together. It would certainly improve fuel econ and make jetting easier to diagnose. Did you plug yours with RTV?

A 48, 2 1/2 turns, and a 200 seems rich. Are you sure you are not jetted rich just to compensate for the missing initial shot of fuel?

Anyone else out there removing these pumps?

If you, as they say stay up on the cam the accelerator pump is not needed ...

Yes, that is rich which is about 12 to 1 by my
fuel/air gauge ...

RTV is good ...

Getting 49 + mpg the way "i" ride ...
