I'm getting ready to purchace a new exhaust.I need opinions on various full systems including Pro series, Force,Kooks and D&D? Tired of slip-ons meaning V&H. | ||

After working in a dealership, I've tried just about all of them. The pro series worked good but I kept busting stuff. Since I put on the Kooks, I can't say enough about them. They pulled a faint bit more horsepower than the pro series, a little more torque @ 4400RPM. If you're looking for a nasty "funny car" sound, the Kooks will suit you fine. I have over 18,000 hard miles with the Kooks and they still look and sound great. Kerry PS--The dyno pulls were at East Troy! | ||

Kerry what do you think of Force.And how much was the KOOKS .And one more thing is it ceramic coated don't like dark brown ugly pipes. | ||

Kerryxi I called KOOKS and they still make them but the guy I talked to said they have had issues of them cracking. Not to convincing. "Daves" you said you had a sale on pipes how much,also I already have Pro Series module and air cleaner all I need is the exhaust.ITS for a 2000 M2 Let me know. Thanks Dana. | ||

I've got Buell Pro Race Headers and Muffler on my X1--the race ECU is built for those pipes and can--I originally had an E-series White Bros. pipe on the stock headers--lasted about 2500 miles before fracturing at the elbow--effectively beating the crap out of my lovely ceramic coated stock headers That's the main reason I went to the Buell stuff--I needed headers anyway--have to say they do the job better than the E-series--plus the collector on the race header has at least 100% more area than stock yielding higher flow--any system that slips on the stock header won't match it in flow at least--perhaps in torque, but not overall highend output--the E-series with twelve plates stole 11MPH from my topend--a lot for a bike with a terminal velocity of only 137MPH! As the packing blows out it gits LOUD--very rowdy Stock Car sound when deacellerating! | ||

I never ran one of the force pipes. The earlier ones were common and I rode a few Buells with them and wasn't impressed with either the sound or performance. I'm sure the Nallin modified force has sufficient backpressure to work correctly. Jerry Kooks used my X1 to build the prototype '99 and later pipe. There's a lot to be said for a stepped header. They work good all around. As far as cracking, I know of two that developed a hairline fracture of the weld in front of the collector. It was easily corrected with a new bead of stainless. On my S3, I magnafluxed the welds and did locate some porosity and rewelded them along with a Y shaped brace between the pipes and collector. The sound has been awsome from day one and again, I have over 18,000 hard miles on them. Mine are the polished stainless and they turn gold but stay shiney and polished. Far less problems than anything else out there. Nallin's Force, Pro Series or the Kooks. They'll all give you what you want. Kerry | ||

Spiderman, Being that I'm an old  , I've never gotten over far enough to lose any metal! This twistie stuff is new fun for an old drag racer. By the way, the S3T with the bags on ran a 10.84 @ 121 MPH last summer. That was with a tired top end and Ole baldie twisting the wick. Kerry | ||

Not bad Last time i was at the track I fried my battery while racing and still pulled a 12.8  And I also broke a motormount the time before that so i never got a chance to really get a good time in. | ||

Dana, I asked Brian Nallin the same question when I ordered mine and he said "More power". Larger collector and bigger can. He also recommended I use the street baffle. I never tried the original force pipe to compare but I know that the Nallin pipe with my mods, anything over 3000 RPM's, look out 'cause it's taking off. Very loud too, I'm glad I have understanding neighbors. Justin | ||

I cannot recall which, but either the Kooks or the KT full pipe has a significant clearance issue on right hand turns. If you ride to lean, you may want to check that out. | ||

Well I made up my mind and bought buells Pro Series full exhaust system. After thinking about it I decided that Force was louder then I wanted to be,KOOKS I wasn't impressed talking to them on the phone,he didn't talk to highly of his product holding up for me and D&D I just didn't get enough response back about thats ok though I think I will be happy though. I ran the pro-series for about a year and a half, the packing blows out fast, gets louder as it gets older but not extreme. D&D makes a can that will fit the race header that never needs packing and they claim a few more ponies too. You'll need the updated front exhaust mount for the D&D. Justin | ||

Justin did your Pro Series pipe give you alot of noticable power or torque over lets say a V&H or any of the other slip-ons.Next step BIGGER CAMS and a set of heads from you know who!!! thats the winter project. Bads1 I never used a slip-on can, I always went with full exhaust change. The Pro-series pipe gives you a 30% gain in the mid range I think, and a 8 HP gain on max and will work good with cams and head work. I thought it was great on torque and power throughout the RPM range, I went with the modified Force pipe for two reasons, #1 It complimented my engine mods, and #2 I wanted a one piece header because I always had the thought of my muffler falling off and catapulting me thru the air(I had the recalled muffler, the strap didn't give me to much confidence). All in all, I think you'll be impressed, it has a great sound and it's worth the price. Justin |
