KT has gone out of business, as far as I know. I found a phone number for them once on the internet, and the guy said that he used to run the company, but that he's making trailers (or something like that) now. At that time, he said he had about 4 pipes left in a warehouse somewhere that would fit my S1, but he still wanted like $400 a piece for them. That isn't a bad price, but I was hoping to pick them all up for a steal and make some $$$.

Anyway, from what I've read in Battle2Win, they're supposed to offer good power, comparable to a Buell race header w/Vanes & Hines, but are obscenely LOUD. It's a one piece header/muffler set-up, not two seperate components. If that's what you're looking for, and can find a good used one, it's not a bad option.

The KT pipe is tuned for the '96/'97 and '98 S1 pre-white-lightning cam. Also the same as the '97 S3 and I think '98 S3s, although at some point those switched to the Thunderstorm motor too (different cam timing).

Yes, they're loud. I had mine on my old S1, just got ahold of it again and had it Jet-Hot silver ceramic coated. I'm installing it on my '97 S3 tomorrow and will be experimenting with ways of muffling it at least some. Will report later on how that goes.

I've got a writeup of my install including grafting a Supertrapp *automotive* piece on it in a very clean fashion(!) here:
