C'mon BD2, I still think you are upset over nothing as far as Judy and her request are concerned. I mean c'mon, your bike is NOT a Harley; it just looks like one. Would you want somebody registering you as the father on a birth certificate just because the kid resembles you? Wouldn't be right would it. The kid wouldn't have your genes; he ain't a true BikerDude. :)

Topic moving to Quick board under...

HD requests reclassification of Bikerdude2's eBay listing.

Cool? :)

PS: BTW, you should definitely keep it. It has better parts than the stock HD's.

LMAo I hear what your saying...Steve, I'm located in Upstate NY, outside of Albany..I have some pics of my bikes online at www.swap-trade-buy-sell.com I'm always buying, selling, trading bikes and stuff. Mostly as a hobby. I'm lucky when I make a small profit, but am just happy to break even and get to own a ton of different bikes. It helps feed my addiction. I have to get some pics of my Sporty project on there..

OK, TEXAN HARLEY OF CONROE SUCKS: last week I called buell cust. service about my 00 X1 and asked them about the shock recall and the front exhaust mount fix. I was told that the front mount was not covered on my bike but the shock was. So, I call TEXAN HARLEY in Conroe. They say " gimee yer VIN # I'll call ya right back". 2 days later I call TEXAN HARLEY in Conroe. Well they say the front exhaust mount is a go but the shock is not covered!? I have talked to 2 of the service managers, one of them blew me off and the other one "jesse" (a woman) apparently lied to me! I called buell. I know what they are willing to fix. So to make a long story a little shorter, I told jesse I would call buell again tomorrow and verify what was covered (for the third time) then call her back. Then the backpeddling began. Jesse said "NO, I'll call them and take care of it and get back to you" we shall see tomorrow!!!!! Im gonna call buell again anyway

Roadrunr,

They couldn't have made an honest mistake? I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Ignorance isn't a good thing, but it's more easily tolerated than dishonesty. They may simply be ignorant. So educate them. :D Tell them that you know for a fact that BOTH items are covered. Shock is a recall, muffler mounting is a good will upgrade.

BCS told you the muffler mount was not covered?

Blake:BCS said not all 00 X1 mounts were covered. Something to do with when and where it was built. I can't see how that matters since they all seem to cause problems. An honest mistake? Well, yes , I guess anything is possible but they do have access to a buell site that lists all recalls and goodwill fixes. maybe jesse typed in the wrong VIN both times and maybe sonny was just real busy both times when I talked to him and it slipped his mind. I have a very low tolerance for ignorance, especially when it is someone that should know what to do and where to get the information to do it. Sorry for getting all worked up here. I will give em another try today.

Was on leave (In DC area) with nothing to do and thought I'd go suprise Mom (In Pittsburgh) for lunch. My tires were running low on tread, but figured I'd get some new rubber while in PGH. About 100 miles away I realized that was a stupid idea. Lucky for me I stumbled on Cerini HD/Buell. They are located at the junction of PA-51 and US-70. When I pulled up I knew I was in the right place. The Buell sign was about three times the size of the HD sign. The service manager was fantastic. He took my M2 right away for two new tires and then gave me a VERY significant discount. While they were in there the mech shows me the rear pads........YIKES!! They were shot. Unfortunately they didn't have any in stock. No problem, they pulled some pads off a demo bike and damn near gave them to me. Had me back on the road less than two hours later. These guys will get my money anytime I'm passing through. Even if it's just a T-Shirt.

Check out their site to see the sign I mentioned: www.cerini.com

Tenn/Kentucky Buell dealer info please!
I am thinking of relocating to this area. I am a Buell/HD Tech. Would like some input about dealers. A big plus if a dealer supports Buell racing and owns a Dyno! Let me know which doors to knock on. Thanks.

Cheers to Wisconsin Harley-Davidson of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin!
Took my Blast in for it's 7500 mile service to another shop in the area which came back running a bit less than perfect. Two days later I limped it into Wisconsin H-D and shared my story with the service manager. These guys took the bike in the shop, looked it over, made a few adjustments, then handed the bike back over to me in perfect running condition, all at no charge! The Service Manager then brought the Buell Tech out and introduced him to me. Both guys, I tell you actually took the time to chat a few moments. These guys were not bored, they are 3 weeks in scheduled appts. yet they took a moment to evaluate and see if they could get me back on the road this evening.
That's not only 'customer service', that is the beginning of new friendships.

'01 Blast
(now running great!)

Uke's Harley / Buell - Kenosha, Wisconsin

Keith the owner is a big time Buell nut. They have Buell specific tech's, the service is outstanding, they have a BRAG chapter, and are currently building a massive new structure.

Quote:

That is an understatement. I used to, with frequently regularity, ride from Topeka, KS to Kenosha to give demo's at Uke's open houses.

In fact, there was a time, late one night when I had to recover a Buell from a freight container that was being flown to me, put tape on the glass where the freight company had broken it, jump on the bike in the middle of the night and ride until dawn.

Keith Ulicki, motorcycles aside, is a fine person.

Tell him I said hello. By the way, if you need entertained ask him about:

1) The time he left the higway coming home from a flat track race and slid his van, through the snow, for a considerable distance inverted....

2) The time we got his "old" RR-1200 out and I was going to do a "parade lap" with the demo group. Three guesses as to what happens to Dunlop 591's that have set for 5 or 6 years. Damn near ground looped the thing in front of MANY onlookers. The save was spectacular (there's no substitute for more throttle when you've no idea what to do) and PURELY LUCK!

Father Gess you may stop laughing now.....

Pilk recommended Bumpas HD/Buell. Well I bought my 1998 S1W new from them and I have had MANY dissapointments with their service and parts dept. That is in memphis. The store in Jackson and Murfesbourough might be different. To make a long rant short, the two big problems I had with them was, 1)They refused to rebuild my motor when I holed the rear piston due to a intake seal leake at 19,324 miles. 2)Tried to sell me a new rear wheel for $475.00 when it is a warranty item. Got a new one from Modesto no problem.

Ok, my .02: Golden Gate Harley Davidson in Marin has been good. Mike Talbot works on the Buells. With the 5oo, 2500 and 5k service it was in by 9 out by noon. He did the 42mm carb switch and had the bike back to me 1 1/2 hours later.

Actually I've never been to the Murfesbourough store, but have had excelent experiences with both Memphis and Jackson locales.

OTOH: they've never worked on my Buell, just sportys, and big twins, either way never a problem, and they always seem like they genuinely want to please their customers.

I need to understand? Budo beleives a dealer should rebuild a motor after 19K miles because a rubber seal in the manifold went bad? which caused a lean condition that burnt a piston...and this happened all at once with no warning signs and they,"touched it last" clause in effect.

HD/Buell of Salt Lake has always treated me well, even when I was just there oogling the bikes - then went to Berkley for a used bike.
They swapped the remaining warranty for me then were very sincerely and honestly involved in trying to sort out all the problems involved in having a Cali model here in Utah. Good folks, Scotty the Buell mechanic races and Ronnie in parts is smart and honest, he's definitely not in it for the commission like some sales folks can be. Also is up on all the current stuff out there for the bikes, part of the job I know but some folks do the same job better than others. Oh, Parker the shop foreman is gruff but like the rest seems pretty honest.

I also had a pleasant stop at the Dealer in Blackfoot, ID - Grand Teton HD/Buell, I think - They are moving to a larger facility in Idaho Falls this summer. Offered me nice Buell discounts and were helpful and friendly.

Recently my 2000 S3 developed it's first rear jug rocker box leak. Into Bumpus Harley Davidson-Buell in Memphis TN the scooter went. Oh, I also asked them to check the intake manifold for air leaks. When I was told the bike was ready "to go", the first thing I noticed is that the seat was installed incorrectly, the second thing I noticed was the fuel tank was installed incorrectly. Other than that maybe the bike was ready ""to go"? Two days later I was called and told the bike was once again ready to be picked up. Upon walking up to the bike and looking it over, I noticed that again the seat was not installed correctly. Then the bike would not start. I didn't bother trying to show their employees how to install the seat again. But I did want them to fix the bike so it would start. They did this by reconnecting the fuel pump. I'd rate the Bumpus employees as very friendly. Always nice. Now, if they could just pay as much attention to the bike that I purchased from them as they do all the "bad boy" wanna bees lined up with armfulls of chrome doo-dads, life would be great.

Just thought I'd give Bud's H-D/ Buell in Evansville a plug. Even though they were backed up until mid August they worked Stripe'r in for her errant charging system. I need to thank Dennis (My #1 Technician) and Jason (Svc. Mgr) for turning Stripe'r around in 2 days. This is the place to go if you need your bike worked on and done RIGHT. Dennis rides every day and I know 100% that when he is finished working on my bike that it ready to take anything I can ask because he understands what "Live To Ride, Ride To Live" really means.

Keep up the great work guys.

After dealing with my stealership for several months I feel I can aptly judge their service. Harley Davidson/Buell of Jamestown...as for parts, as long as you know exactly what you need, they'll get the right part. As for service, in my experience they'll go far to avoid any warranty work with lame excuses and complete misinformation as to why you'll have to pay for it instead. Last dealing was for rear isolators...after being fed a line of bullshit I just bought them and am doing it myself. I wonder if they're lazy or just don't care.

So, overall, I've found that the parts guys sure do try, but the service personel seriously suck!

I wanna give a plug for White's in lebanon pa. I pulled in with a leaky drain plug and they fixed it for free. It only needed to be tightened but they did it for free so I gave them a twenty for the effort. Kudo's to Chris Moore and Co. Thanks. This was on a saturday around closing time. That is what makes it so nice.

Thumbs down to the parts departments at Mancuso, both Texan locations, Stubbs and Republic. Why does no HD dealership in all of Houston have brake parts for a bike that's been out since '99?
It would be one thing if they just ran out, but the case is simply they haven't ordered it and kept up the inventory. They ran out of brake discs but failed to replace them. I had this issue with pads once as well. That was even more stupid since the whole lineup uses the same exact pads for both L & R front and the rear. I asked for the eluding disc last Monday from all 5 places. They all said, "We can oreder it for you." I told them to order it without me. They should have stuff like that in stock anyway. Texan in Conroe told me they had 2. I drive out there only to discover, they didn't have them. Man, I was pissed! I should have grabbed replacement gas money out of the register before I left. An hour each way of my time wasted. Maybe nobody rides more than 100 miles a month down here, so they don't keep discs in stock. The number of bikes I see everyday tells me that's not true. They just don't have their act together.
In fairness, Archer (Ross), who works at Republic, got me both front discs a couple of weeks ago and a stator (that nobody in and around Houston had) that was in short supply everywhere and backordered from the factory (I don't know where he ended up finding it) So, good job to him at least. 2 out of 2. He wasn't in to work when I called today. I got some moron who can't read a parts book. Actually, all locations seem to have parts guys who can't find the right number in the parts book. I wrote the number down, so I knew what it was, but wasn't telling them, I just told them it wasn't the right number. None found the correct number even after three tries. Each had to go on to the showroom floor and get the number directly off of the part on the bike. Then I said, "Hey! Now that is the correct number." I didn't realize it was so difficult to find the right part in the book. I still got the "We can order it for you" line. There's 3 in Austin and 4 in the Hill Country, so they say. Like I'm gonna go out there during the week. I'd like to go out to the hill country but I work for a living unlike those bozos.

Seaford HD/Buell update:

I went there to get an oil filter and other consummables for engine/transmission lubrication change. They didn't have the clutch cover gasket. The guy told me he doesn't have many Buell customers. I suggested that it's because when a Buell customer comes here and can't find what he needs, he goes elsewhere. I then cited a previous request for a part, where I left my name and phone number, and they never called back despite my emphasis on how urgent it is that I get back on the road. I ended up driving 150+ miles round-trip to MD to get the part.

Thanks, Seaford HD, for your apathy.

These guys had me a new clutch cable in a day! They called me back within 3 minutes of calling them about the cable. They knew all about the Blast!--even had 7 on the floor in every color! I think the name of the dealer was Annapolis HD/Buell, but I'm just guessing. Strange that, all they had were Blast!s.

Sorry to hear Seaford hasn't changed it's stripes.
They have now added Buells to their Ocean City shop, which is alot closer to me. I will go there only when I have to. I could tell you some other stories about how they jerk around some of their long time customers when they are on a waiting list for Harleys. Spend your money elsewhere.

Pilk,

Sills HD/Buell In Paducah, KY is a great dealer! These guys will go out of their way to help! Just an example, Had a flat tire. Called Harley and they were not much help, just kept transferring me. So, I called Sills, Talked to Marc Potter, the Buell guy- He said, "give me 3min.and I will have something for you." Well, 2 Min. later Got a call they drove 60 miles, to pick up my bike and me. Put my tire on and just charged for the tire change and tire. need a good service department these guys have it. Hard to get in sometimes, I know why now.

$50 a crack is cheap, at least relative to what I was quoted by a (bad) dealer. There is at least $20 worth of gaskets in there, and at least an hours work. Thats a good deal.

It is not unusual for the front to go within 3000 miles or so of the front. Mine did. For that reason, many people just replace both when the rear goes.

If they replaced it with the new metal gaskets, your problem is solved. If they used the old paper gaskets but were carefull, your problem MAY be solved, but may come back.
