Watch the rivets on your white bros. The vibration cuts them in half. Trust me, I know. 4 gone on the front after 5000 mi.

RIVETS! I wish that's all that vibrated apart on the E-Series I put on my 2000 X1. After about 2500 miles of mountain tripping the collector fractured nearly in half--at least that's when the vibes got so rowdy I couldn't help noticing.
Probably started to frag well before then as the split was about halfway the circumference when I really took a good look.
Having another thousand miles to ride I hoped it wouldn't fall completely off. Unfortunately by continuing to pound the bike the Vibe flaked the silver jethot coating off the Millenium's headers whilst flailing the can against the tranny drainplug.
The dealer would not pursue the warranty even though they had recommended the unit, sold it, installed it on a bike I had only just bought 24 hours previous.
Have yet to hear from White Bros. As it was up to me to pursue replacement.
SO I can't reccommend the E-series to anyone prone to all daylong highspeed riding. It's probably better than most in appearance, etc. but the stock unit is superior in durability.

Seems pretty trivial huh? Wait till they all come out of the front end of your muffler and it puts a 12" lift kit on your bike while it's clipping along at about 80 mph.

My inner core broke in pieces after 6000km. The replacement innercore broke after 2000km. Tried to contact white brothers, No reaction at all.

My advice stay away from white brothers

I have a White Bros. E-series on my M2. Hate the sound. Anybody know if I pack it more densely [to
try and get a deeper sound] will it effect performence or overheat.

Took my White Bros E-series apart - all the packing was firmly compressed in the rear, hard and stiff (black lump in picture). Hopefully will sound better when repacked (going to try copper wool).

Sold my E-series after getting tired of choking on my exhaust at stop lights, even with the deflector my left foot got warm.

No reliability issues though, put about 5-6K miles on it.

Running a vance pipe now, I miss the low end power the disk (disc?) pipe provided. Watching a couple pro-series on ebay...

I thought the sound was nice.

Note to the above post, I removed the Z bracket to install the E-series but used the little rubber isolators the bracket mounted on with slightly larger diameter washers to secure it to the cast mounting points (bottom of the tranny I think). This seemed to isolate the muffler from a lot of the engine vibration and keep me from worrying about the rivets shaking loose.

I have seen photos of several bikes where the E-series and V & H pipes where they mounted at the rear to the "Z" bracket, which would employ the isolators but put extra strain on the system since it's not meant to hang at the angle the Z bracket requires if used.

Also of note, the front of both the muffler and the 90 were so tight I could not force them on using a screwdriver to spread the flanges. A local muffler shop showed me how to use their spreading tool and let me have at it to make them fit.

They didn't want to break my new pipe. I wonder if an exceptionally tight fit would lend to failures of the junction pipe as posted above by Stormfool. Seems that if the dealership just jammed it together and forced it onto the bike there could have been a lot of strain going on there...

I still have my V&H and still miss the low end torque the back pressured E-series gave me. I don't miss reeking of exhaust fumes when I arrive at work. I don't miss my hot left heel on long rides and the V&H is more appealing to me visually.
