I need to hook up the retard feature on my Dyna ignition.Instructions say the purple wire must be grounded for retard activation. This is for my nitrous system so I want retard to come on when I hit the nos button. How do I get the wire to ground out when everything else is positive activation--nos solenoids, fuel pump, etc???Really prefer to not rewire everything if I can avoid it.
Electrical has always been my weak area so keep it simple for the dunce,OK.

Jum,
Use a relay.
Have the NOS controller activate a relay with +12.
Have the contacts short the retard lead to ground.
Should be able to do it with a standard horn relay or a 12V relay from radio shack.
Just check the physical ratings to make sure it will stay latched under heavy vibration.
I can check out some options tomorrow, I don't have any current component catalogs here at home.

Jim,
Don't you know "retard" is not P.C. these days?

Caution, Off Topic:

Don't you know "retard" is not P.C. these days?

Lol, my wife does...now.

She has been helping the PTA design an extracarricular activity for the kids at my sons elementary school.

Last week while addressing questions from parents she used the word "retarded" when asked about the needs of "special education" children. Not in a malicious way, but she was surprised to hear gasps from parents and faculty alike. Then, in trying to explain her innocence in the use of the word she used it a couple more times.

The woman who asked the question broke out in tears and left the room.

Now I'm not mean or insensitive, but I about laughed my off when my wife told me about it that night.

I could vividly picture her trying to explain and all the while just making it worse and worse.

It shook up my wife too, she was apologetic, and everyone told her it was ok and don't worry about it.

However she has talked to the woman since that night and everything is cool.

Ok, back to topic!

Sorry for the interruption.

No problem Jim.
If Bill see's it first he'll be able to give you the details too (being he's another ressident electronics whizz..)
I'll also look for some shock resistant relays in some of my books.

Brad
