New to the list and would like to say hello to all! I just purchased a 2000 M2 and it came with a Hypercharger on it. I don't care for the unit, but don't have the cash to spend on something else right now. I have read the many posts regarding the poor air flow with this unit and have already modified the case by removing the butterflies and all the restrictions in the inlet. Any opinions as to whether this will give me the airflow needed, or is the physical size of actual the filter (K&N) still to small to give proper operation? Any input appreciated!

Don't think I've ever seen a dyno run comparing the Hypercharger to anything else. There are several variations of the hypercharger,as well as kits to allow a larger filter. If your running a stock motor I dont think you would notice any difference between any of the stock or aftermarket options. Replacing the stock exhaust with an aftermarket model and rejetting the carb would make more of a difference.

I'm sure if you do a search of the Knowledge Vault you will find lots of dynos and info posted.

I think a few have complained about the hypercharger hitting their knee. If knee room is a concern the stock air box or the forcewinder are you best bet. There is a known issue with the forcewinder on the carb'd tubers which is fixable with a little grinding.

I've had the stock airbox, the "gutted" stock air box with the venturi ring, and I've had the forcewinder.

Now I'm putting on the CF race can.
when I get my M2 back together this winter. I think its the best combination of looks and performance.

I've got a stock air box and a forcewinder lying around somewhere. I would let them go "cheap" to a good home. PM me if your interested.

I don't personally like the Hypercharger, but I've never seen any evidence that they kill power. Just run it until you come across a good deal on something else.

I use a Forcewinder now, but I will be going to the CF race filter on my M2. I like the look of the Force, but the race filter makes more sense.

I had both on my M2 and I must say the Hypercharger performed much better, the Forcewinder looked better. The only reason I sold the Hypercharger and went to a Forcewinder was that my knee stayed bruised all the time from banging into it when my front wheel came down!

They have a use on Custom H-D Softails with forward controls, because they are so much narrower than anything else. Much of the time we have to disconnect the butterflys so they stay open. Why would you want to restrict the intake flow until the buterflys opend??? I have not seem many that worked well at all. The Hyper charger is just a little better, but again it's the additional length in front of the TB that makes tuning them a pain?? ... Terry

Don't forget Buelldynoguy that you cannot fully restrict the flow on a hypercharger because the bottom of it is open.

Yes I agree and its the HD 95 inch engines with high flow heads and cams that seem to have more of an issue. If they are running a Thunder Header it's even worse. It seems that the intake track does not match the rest of the engines needs at anything other WOT and High RPM. ... Terry

Hey guys (and gals?)- I just picked up a 01 m2 cyclone (seems it has an 02 engine? 1203) that previous owner had a stock sporty air cleaner machined and installed just to make it different. Any suggestions here? MY only problem with it is that I can not tuck in as tight on right side (6'2"-long legged)it gets very much in the way of my knee/upper leg compared to left side- maybe someone knows of a better profile intake for my ride? I like the looks of the profile of the hypercharger but after reading above not so sure it breaths any better. My thinking is also performance minded/"better" than stock. ~BM~
