Supertrapp mounting bracket: Just a heads up. The newly designed (supposedly 10,000 mile tested) Supertrapp rear muffler hanger bracket unfortunately has straps that break. Someone else mentioned this earlier, and with me it makes 2 
One of straps broke right at the spot welding. Of course the individual straps can't be replaced because of the bracket design ... but a good farm supply or hardware store will have a snail/hose clamp long enough to function as a back-up for the trip home.

Henrik,
That was me that broke the strap.
Just curious, how did you have the straps rotated?
I didn't have install instructions, I just put them where they showed the least.
This put the bolts pointing down almost verticle with the centerline of the engine.
This places the end of the strap (the end that folds under and is spot welded) right against the support bracket.
I was wondering if maybe that induced unwanted stress on the spot welds.
When I got my new one (it cost me $50.00 because I didn't have a receipt) I rotated the clamps a bit so the butt end of the strap was about 1 1/2" from the bracket.
Not sure if it will help but so far it's ok.
Only about 1K on the new bracket.

Brad: I had the Supertrapp clamps rotated almost like you. The bolts pointing down providing as much ground clearance as possible, and keeping the clamps out of sight. I did not have the "doubled part" of the clamp on the edge of the bracket - just off it to the inside.
Btw. the instructions says nothing about where to locate the clamps rotation-wise. |

Hey guys, the Buell Pro series slip-on is the new 'trapp. The only difference is that the BRS uses two rear stainless straps instead of the thin straps and bracket that the 'trapp uses. Why this is different, I don't know. Maybe the BPS is now running the rear 'trapp setup but if you can get the two straps from Buell it will work on the 'trapp. I've got approx. 12,000-13,000 miles on mine and I have run this thing extremely hard with no problems with the rear straps. |

Hi Brad, the straps are shown at www.buell.com. Look under accessories and click on the pro series section then look at the picture for the pro series slip-fit race muffler. The straps are right there in the picture. Hope this helps. Frank. |

I'd bet the Buell one uses the same rear bracket/straps as the Supertrapp OEM unit. That picture is almost as old as the product intro, the other design came afterwards. I've got an early OEM one, it has the fat straps. They've held up well.

I didn't realize they released the newer style IDS with the separate double strap setup.
My ST IDS has the straps and rear hanger as a single assembly. I have broken a strap none the less. The replacement now has about 4K miles with no problems.

I keep breaking the rear Borla Muffler strap.
Has anyone the solution?
