on my trip to ny,got forced into the slow lane in a constuction zone.it was dark.. anyhow noticed oil allover the wheel and its still coming out. just in small amounts. any advice other than takin it to dealer. a trailer isnt an option.u haul wants 380 bucks. one way to the house. | ||

Hi, Sounds like you popped a fork seal. The reason it's just dripping small amounts now is you left the rest of the fluid on the road. Since your on the road, any port in a storm so to speak. They are Showa forks, any bike shop should have to tools to service, and most likely the seals are a common Showa part #. Try the local Buell dealer first, if they can't help you, get out the phone book and look for local indi shops, then metric dealers. If you can't get the Showa seals, get the dimensions and head down to the local industrial supply. If that dosen't pan out, crank the preload down all the way so the forks are super stiff. That way they won't move all that much and wear parts. Go slow until you can get it fixed. Tom | ||

Chickenhauler: If it is fork "OIL", then you have a fork seal bad ... For safty, on the right fork you should tie a piece of white T-shirt on the bottom of the fork to catch any leakage before it would get on front brake rotor ... On the TUBE FRAMES it is caused by putting too much oil in the oil tank(the excess oil has to go some where) ... Puking out the transmission breather is one way ... In BUELLing LaFayette |
