I have a good Dainese jacket but when I started riding, didn't think I'd be going to track days or schools. The jacket was expensive and I'm trying to save money and still get safe pants (I've found pants from $400 to $600) that zip to the jacket (assuming different brands will connect just fine). Only want safety, not style. Must they be leather or will modern textiles work as well. I ride with full helmet, jacket (with protection), gloves, boots, but wear jeans. Don't see going to track days more than 2 or 3 times a year but would probably suit up for any ride out of town. Rarely ride in rain. Couldn't find anything used on ebay.

1) Do not assume that different brands will connect. My HJC jacket and Joe Rocket Blaster pants did have the same size zipper; it's just that the part on the HJC jacket was the opposite direction from the one Joe Rocket uses...

2) I've never gone to a track day, but I've also never heard of an approved textile suit, with the possible exception of the Roadcrafter. Your mileage may vary, etc.

3) Keep looking on eBay. Stuff will show up once folks aren't using it, like later in the fall or next winter. I eBay'd a cherry Joe Rocket Razor textile suit last May.

Dwolk, have you checked out NewEnough.com yet? Great prices and I've heard nothing but good reviews all around. Check often, they have killer closeout specials.

Davefla, about your JR Blaster pants--I also have some, and the zippers are reversed to my (newer) JR leather jacket, too! I called JR about it, and was told that earlier JR pants and jackets were all made that way (probably to force consumers to buy both pieces from JR), but newer models are made to industry standards, which is to say they are compatible.

I plan to reverse the zipper on my jacket, as it'll be a lot easier to do than reversing the pants zipper (just haven't done it yet...).

Dwolk, unless I'm mistaken, when you buy any new piece of gear with a zipper for connection to another piece, the extra zipper piece is included (so you can have it sewn into the other piece if it's not already compatible).

Newenough.com - heck yeah.

Check the race club boards also - used leathers coming up all the time.

Also, check the rules for the particular track day operator, some might not require zip-together suits for 1st time group.

I would STRONGLY recommend zip-together "just in case" - having crash-tested a couple sets of leathers at least half dozen times now.
