My HJC Symax flip-up is definitely the king of wind noise. I've found that the double lens snowmobile shield (which has a cool looking bezel around it) tones it down quite a bit and keeps out the rain better. But I wear earplugs too but only on long trips, not around town. Arai has won a customer satisfaction award for their helmets and have an excellent reputation. Can't go wrong with them IMO. | ||

As to helmet noise, I highly recommend the NOJ quiet rider. I keep mine fitted year round. Also, no matter what helmet you buy, it really should have a small spoiler or small upturned poertion at the bottom rear edge of the helmet. The almost unoticeable little spoiler totally eliminates helmet lift. | ||

Blake, which quiet rider do you have? I was considering the cold weather one since it has a longer neck curtain. Are they really waterproof? I have yet to purchase anything truly waterproof, other than my ski suit. | ||

X1G, I use the "Basic" model NOJ Quiet Rider. For cold weather I use a neck wrap. | ||

Blake, Do you have any problem with your shield fogging up with the use of the NOJ? It seems like that in cold weather it would be a problem. | ||

The Shoei chin vent provides very good airflow over the inside of the faceshield. If I'm not moving fast enough for it to self clear I just crack the shield open a very slight amount. Plus, my helmet stays inside and warm. That helps prevent fogging better than just about anything. | ||

Blake, What Shoei are you using? I went from the relatively inexpensive RFR to the RF-900. {And I just noticed I still have the battletrax number sticker on it, better pull that off before some officer thinks I'm either a rickey-racer or am lost from some tour group.  | ||

Thanks Reepicheep for all the information on your Shuberth Concept helmet.  I made a stop at one of the local BMW dealerships and tried one on. Nice helmets. The medium fit me perfectly! They're a little expensive though. I can't find a good website to order one from. The BMW dealership want's $369 plus tax. That's hard to swallow when I can get an Arai Quantum-F for $330 no tax, shipping included off the internet. Anyone know where I can order the Shuberth for less?  Everyone I talk to at the various dealerships I visit always steer me back to Arai. Maybe I should go with the Quantum.... | ||

MikeJ, First was an RF700. New one is the Z-II. The RF's are quieter. The Z-II top vents when open are noisy. | ||

Jeffl... They were a lot cheaper then that in Germany, I think I paid 239 or something at Louis (www.louis.de). I have a contact in Germany that can go looking if you need help and have a size and color you are after. I'm not one for trying on in a shop then mailordering elsewhere, but $369 is just unbuyable. Hmmm... time to put mine on eBay | ||

Mine was not a small / medium / large thingy, it had a number inside, looked like a Euro thing. I believe my XL was a 54 or something, they had a lot of different sizes. I will check on prices and let you know... Bill | ||

Does anyone know why Buell cannot ship things out in a timely fashion? I ordered one of their custom seats for my m2 about a month ago. The shop I ordered it from won't give me a tracking number. I'm pretty sure it will never arrive. Has anyone experienced this slow reaction time when ordering Buell parts/apparell? This sucks!  | ||

Probably not Buell's fault. Ask your dealer when they transmitted the order. The honest answer may be "not yet." | ||

Yep, if they can't give an order status, that's a prety good sign that your order is still sitting in the outbox. Call or go there if it's close and ask them to confirm placement of the order. | ||

Reindog, Do it yourself. A strip of webbing, some clear sheeting, a length of velcro pile, and access to a sewing machine (or a pair of pliers and a stout needle and thread) is all it takes.  | ||

Leeaw. . .. .20 minutes in a camping supply store will likely get you all the straps and buckles ya need for your tankbag . . . ... although WOlfman is GREAT (I killed the map case on my Buell bag by allowing a Xerox copy of a map sit in the sun for a couple of hours . . . . . .all the toner transfered to the inside of the case . . . .I now put xerox copies inside a ziplok baggie or sumpin . . .. ) but Wolfman sent me a new case in about a month for not many bux . . .. these folks deserve our support, as their customer service show they understand the existance of, ehem, customers! Mennis . . . Checkout RKA . . . . I got a little bag w/mapcaase for Christmas from my women . . . .bout 2 inches thick, mebbe 6 X 9 . . .. enough for a lfaashlight, firstaid kit, couple of small bungees, extry gloves, and an extra t-shirt (if you don't weat Harley sizes . . . another good company to deal with | ||
