Daytona HD is not very Buell friendly. They don't have any acessories or clothing that I have seen in the 3-4 times I have been there. I dont care much for the service either. I went to have a clock replaced on my S3T and it took 2 and 1/2 hours. They had to stop in the middle to refix a newly bought full dress HD. It still did not get fixed right, it wont work when ignition is turned on but keeps time when ignition is off. I am riding over to Orlando tomorrow where I bought the bike to see if they will get it right. Daytona is just so much closer. Anyway, I have felt like a second class citizen in Daytona HD every time I have been there. I get the feeling like, Oh it's just a Buell, ignore it and it may go away. They have honored my warranty work so far with no hastles, but........
So, be forwarned about Daytona HD and how YOU may be treated there.

If you have a chance, don't bother with the "Rocket" H-D in Huntsville, AL. All they have Buell is the bikes, the price tags, and some $600+ jackets. And unless you want a Road King, you wont get the time of day except from the chick at the front door.

Bought mine at Tucson HD this past spring. Truly one of the worst sales experiences of my life. I've bought lots of vehicles and sold them for a living for a long time. I'm now in <a href="http://get-faster.com?go=mortgages" onmouseover="window.status = 'goto: mortgages';return 1" onmouseout="window.status=''">mortgages</a> and can work a monthly payment on a calculator without much stress. This was around the introduction of the 3.9% for 36 month promo and quite frankly it was the only way to convince the wife into letting me trade my Sporty in on a new bike. I knew where I wanted to be monthly and thought I was close. I got the old school lowball on my trade from the salesperson with the finance guy trying to bump me in the closing office. I even got the manager to tell me he'd sell me the bike at cost to keep me as a customer! I'm not an idiot and didn't expect them to not make a profit. Like I said, I sold cars for a living and understand that profit needs to be made! I left after that first visit only to be called the next day to meet somewhere in the middle. Not a problem, I was lusting after this bike and I went down right after work. I signed all the papers and wasn't allowed to take delivery because they were closing the store! It was 6:05!! I couldn't believe I would have to wait til the next morning to ride home my new toy. Granted, they've been fine since and have a pretty good after the sale follow up ( lot's of coupons, etc. ), but they also dropped the price from what I worked for two days about a grand! One of the biggest reasons I haven't done any performance mods is I'm afraid of what their service department will do with my warranty.

Tucson HD/BUELL is a regular STEALERSHIP and try their best to get max profits from all customers. They are NOT BUELL friendly. I had to cover my ass every time I took my S2 in for anything. They are owned by AZmotorsports, which also owns Chandler HD/Buell up in Phoenix. I would NEVER recommend either of these shops.

After meeting Murrae on one of the Breckenridge runs up in Colorado, I found him to be VERY trustworthy, knowledgeable, and the service manager at Santa Fe HD/Buell in Santa Fe, NM. I have resorted to hauling my bike(s) up there for major service work when needed. My newest S2 is up there getting Nallinized right now. This shop is VERY Buell friendly and will bend over backwards to help the customer. Good deals abound.
I STRONGLY recommend this shop!!!

I want to give a real thumbs up for the Buell dealer i deal with. New Castle HD in New Castle Pa. I believe them to be one of the original Buell dealers in the country. They also campaign their own successful national V-twin race team. Their techs really know their stuff. Not johnny come lately.

Has anyone had any experience with Cowboy H-D in Beaumont, Texas, (http://www.cowboyharley.com/main.asp)? I searched and found one post from a while ago talking about their service department being good. I just want to make sure that their sales department is just as good!

Thanks.

Steer clear of Las Vegas HD/Buell (On Eastern Ave). Just mention the word Buell and they'll instantly turn you off!

LV HD/Buell (On W. Flamingo) is great. Very Buell friendly.

The HD Buell dealer nearest me is pretty non-Buell oriented. They are on rte. 1 in darlington MD. Went in to check out bikes, the salesman tried to talk me into a harley. No buell merchandise, no great selection, as a matter of fact, there were more polaris ATV's there than Buells! I wouldent buy a quart of oil from them. Now, the HD Buell store in White Marsh MD is really nice. Plenty of Buell merch., good selection, and most of the sales guys are Buellers. Thats where I'm buyin my bike.

Iowa HD/Buell Cycle Center, Waterloo, IA is excellent as most of us already know.

Kegel Motorcycle Co, Rockford, IL also good, knowledgable sales, parts and service people. Buell trinkets and like DaveS own and ride Buells. They also have a cafe and would make a good starting/stopping place for a S.E.W.E.R. ride.

Wiebler HD/Buell, Bettendorf, IA fairly friendly and helpful, will just about ignore you if you eye the Buells on the floor but are decent if you know what you want.

Fxdwg2,
I stressed/broke my rear belt on my S2 back in 2000 while coming home from Laconia, NH in Pennsylvania. I swung down to Newcastle HD/Buell and found them to be the greatest. When they found out I was on the road and heading back to Arizona, they slipped me right in and got the belt taken care of and did an oil change to boot.
The fee was minimal. Them guys are great!

HD/Buell of Frederick MD. (www.hdoffrederick.com)gets 2 thumbs up from me. Just totalled my M2L on 2/27. Had to lay it down & it went up in flames. Wife called Frederick dealer and they have a new M2L, only 750 miles, ready to go for me. Great dealership to work with.

I've dealt with Troy at hd/BUELL of Fredrick. Two of the sales guys, Troy and his brother Blain are both Buellers and very up on the product. The service dept. is fair, but really bad about calling you back on things.. They are my 'current' choice for service even with that minor ding. Bought my XB9R there and it was a joy doing business with them (got a killer deal from 'em too).

Later,.

This weekend was a first for me, I went to a dealership and the sales people actually talked to me like a was a human. This was such a change of pace for me, I ride stand up jet skis and when you go into dealers for parts or to buy a new machine they look at you like you are a drunk smelly bum coming off the street asking their customers for money. I am a college student that is think about buy a Buell in the next year, but the reason for my trip to the dealers was for my research paper on how Harley/Buell do business and after staring at pictures and reviews of the Buell bikes I had to see what they looked like in person. What made going to the dealers such a great experience and what I mean by great is I actual felt bad when I left because I was not able to buy anything from the dealer that day. This whole trip to the dealers started off with my buddy looking for an excuse to go for a long ride on his Buell (’98 S3T), so I told him about my project and how I want to see the bikes, but I was afraid to go by myself because of both my past experience and all the horror stories I have heard about the Buell dealer back home. So we decide to go to Iron Block Harley-Davidson which is just out side of Watertown, NY. This is a 3 hour ride for him and 1.5 hour drive for me; we picked the location because it was in between where we live. We arrived at the dealers about an hour before they closed on a Saturday. So we go in and on the right there are nine Buell bikes all in a line, I am so busy drooling at the bikes that I did not notice the good looking sales girl behind the counter at this point I just feel like an idiot, but she just nods like she understands. Unfortunately for me I am just starting to ride so there is no way in hell I can test ride any of the bikes, so after trying on all the bike I have decided that the XB12R is the bike for me. Now I just need to log enough miles so that I can actual ride the bike with out hurting myself. I guess I should get back to the point. While I am check out bikes and riding gear because I still have not bought my own gear, yet. I explain to the 2 sales people that are now talking to us that I am not really looking to buy a bike till next summer, but that I have been working on a project for college and I was just getting sick of looking at pictures, reviews, and stat sheets and how I need to see what the bikes looked like in person (pictures on Buell’s site does not do them justice.) At this point I would expect the sale people to go dam no sale and walk away, but instead they kept working with me while I looked at helmets, jackets, and answered questions about the Harleys. It was a shame that I was not able to buy anything, but the dealer did not have a lot of Buell apparel and they told me that ordering can be difficult, because if it does not fit me they are stuck with it, because they would not sell the customer something that did not fit them. The other problem is I am looking for a jacket and pants that I can put armor in which Harley does not really offer. I have also noticed that in this forum a lot of people complain about dealers trying to sell them a Harley when they go in to buy a Buell. This place never once said I should look at getting a Harley over a Buell they where just interested in helping me out whether it was with questions I had about the bikes or questions I had for my paper. I have to say this is a first time I have ever been to a dealership that I can not wait to go back and buy stuff. So I would like public say to the people at Iron Block Harley-Davidson in Adams center, New York. You have one new bike sale coming as soon as I graduate.

Chalk another Buell dealer off the list. I went in to San Jose HD/Buell (Northern CA) last weekend to buy a replacement speedo sensor for my M2 (argh!), and the parts guy said "Oh, sorry, we're not a Buell dealer anymore. We can't get you the parts." He was kind enough to call around to find the part I needed, but I was stunned. Needless to say, they're not servicing Buells anymore either.

The two closest Buell dealers remaining are at least 30 miles from my house, and 50 from work (Fremont and Redwood City). Neither will accept phone orders for parts, so I have to go down, order the part, then come back when the arrive. That's a lot of gas! (Does anybody mail order factory parts?)

Denver Area Help Needed!
My sister just bought at 96 S1 and she really needs someone who is familiar with these bikes to go over the machine for her.
I'm on the east coast so can't do it for her. Can anyone recommend a dealership/specific individual to help her?
Thanks in advance,

Have her call Aaron at NRHS in Berthoud.

He can either handle it himself (I'd beg for this option) or refer him to a reputable local service facility.

Just wanted to put in a thumbs up for Lowcountry HD/Buell in Charleston, SC. I acquired a used 2000 S3 about a month ago that had never had the rear shock recall done. Dropped by the dealership to order a couple of parts, asked if the recall was still "good". "Sure it is. We'll be glad to take care of it." Shock kit ordered and came in ~2 weeks later as promised. Scheduled appointment to get installed 1 week later. Dropped off bike the night before, picked up the next day at 5 PM exactly as promised. No glitches at all on the installation. All the staff I encountered was friendly and extremely helpful. I am pretty impressed.

In 2000, I went to a Buell homecoming. One of the events was at a HD-Buell Dealer in Kenosha WI. I about cried when I saw all the Buell stuff they had up on racks for sale. Jackets, helmets, upgrade parts and all of it in a nice area.
It was like I'd gone to Buell heaven.
So unlike my my dealer.
Don't get me wrong, overall my dealer is a saint compared to some. He's always sold his bikes at msrp. His service people are very well informed and trustworthy. He gives back to his customers on a huge scale. Open houses, cookouts and the like. He has a huge memorial day weekend event where re-enactors from all wars set up their displays and lets everybody come and look at them. There's also a huge pot of alligator sauce piquant going for the riders coming through on the Run to`the Wall.
Not too soon after 9/11, he rented a dc-10 and flew a group of friends, customers and prospective customers to Midland TX for the Confederate Airforces AirSHO on his dime.
I really shouldn't complain about the lack of Buell support, I can order what I want from him.
From the 2003 catalog.

Or your deodorant?

You got a City Cross bike? How do you like it so far?

I test rode one last weekend at my dealer's open house. Cool bike when you see it in person. It's a nice ride and I can see how it would be a good commuter and city riding bike yet still be a terror in the twisties. Then again my Firebolt can do all that just as well.

I am pleased with the treatment I get from my current Buell dealer. They had XB frame pucks in stock last week, if that tell's you anything. (It tells me that there is at least one person working there who understands the needs and wants of Buell riders!)
Mike.

I'm betting the CityX will be a real nice bike,
WHEN I GET A DECENT SEAT FOR IT!!!
Ahh, there, now I feel all better.
Actually, there's a point when I've turned in to a corner that it feels like it's going to fall over. I've usually started grinding the floorboards way before that point. It feels so neat when it happens coz I know it's not really falling over. The chicken strips are just starting to get smaller and now I'm wondering when the hero blobs will start touching down.
(Gonna be a while, probably) The important thing about all that is when I'm actually riding as hard as I can, I forget about the stupid seat.
I will be experimenting with ergos just coz I'd like to take trips on it. I think some taller handlebars might help and I'm still sorting the luggage (or lack of it).

After doing business with Dave from Appleton HD/ Buell, I was convinced that he was the greatest asset Buell had. I am glad to say that Cameron from Stone Mountain HD/Buell is equally helpful. He went way above and beyond the call of duty for me. I will definitely make the trip to do business with them in the future. I hope I can get off from work for their event in March. Been a long time since I have browsed the site. It looks good. On to my issue, I need to find a dealership that can really work on Buell's and not just say that on the phone. I moved to Maryland and reside in Laurel now. I have found some local dealers, but don't want to waste my money/time. So far I have Elkridge, Annapolis, and Baltimore. Any words of wisdom or experience from these shops with service? I can't work on it anymore due to a lack of garage and the girlfriend would not be pleased with it in the living room... I posted this on the General Discussion Board also, just ready to get the X1 on the road!

Gail's Harley Davidson/Buell. Despite the fact that Gail's employees are extremely pleasant people on the phone, their service and parts department is a far cry from efficient. They just moved to a new facility, the biggest in the Midwest by there acclaim, for the very purpose of having a bigger service department to expedite maintnance on customer bikes but I have yet to see the benefits of this new facility. I've ordered parts from them in the past, and have had parts ordered that were defective for my '03 XB9S (i.e. new front brake rotor, and footpegs) and the fastest they can have them shipped and put on is an average of 7-10 working days. That's a long time to have your bike in the shop when the sun is shining. Not to mention I could order these parts from American Sport Bike.com and have them at my house and put on in 2 days. The reason I wait at this time is because I get these parts free with my warranty, which will run out in 2,000 miles which may be a blessing in disguise because Gail's Harley Davidson/Buell in Grandview, MO is the absolute slowest service dealership in the world. I had a rear tire put on my XB at a Suzuki dealership in Spartanburg, SC last Sept while on vacation, they had it mounted, balanced and put on in 3 hours. The Harley Dealership in Spartanburg said I'd have to leave it overnight at the service dept which was unacceptable. I had Cherokee mountains to ride in at SW North Carolina, so I spent my money elsewhere which I will continue to do after my warranty expires on my XB. Gail's has wonderful people there, but there service has a lot to be desired and is in dire need of upgrading, even with the new umpteen thousand square feet new facility.

Lowcountry HD & Buell in Charleston, SC were very good to me. I have no complaints whatsoever about those guys! I wish I could bring my bike to them everytime.

Brunswick HD & Buell in Troy, NY were not very good to me at all. I felt like everytime I went in there I was going to Jiffy Lube where they offer to do all kinds of extra crap that you didn't go there for. Plus they pretty much blew my engine when I took it in for new brakes. They did not offer to fix a thing either, I ended up doing all the work myself. Still makes me angry and was the sole reason I almost sold my bike.

TSI HD & Buell in Ellington, CT have been great so far (only been there once). Brought her in for some fine tuning after I did the major work of rebuilding the top half of the engine over the winter and she is running like an antelope out of control!

Tilly HD & Buell in NC were awesome to me. I only dealt with them over the phone for some new Thunderstorm heads, but they were extremely helpful. I called there several times when I was putting the new heads on and Neal was more than willing to help everytime.

I have been dealing with Biker Bobs Harley Daivdson/buell, formerly known as Motown Harley. This is my first time dealing with a Harley shop service department. I took my bike in for the spring tune up a dyno run, rear wheel bearings, jetting check, and a week later they called and told me that the bike was ready. I go down there and they tell me that they cant dyno buells, the tires are to small, and the bearings are on back order, then charge me for jets, and come to find out they didnt change my jets, got that charge taken off, after running around the dealership for a half hour finally find out I cant pay full price for the service, cause there are parts on order and they want me to write out another check for a deposit amount after telling me to write one out for the full amount. A week later I finally take my bike out for a small ride and my carb fall off the intake hose twice. The next day I take the bike in and the bearings have been there for two days. Three days later they call and tell me the bearing spun and ruined the wheel and need to replace it it will take a week to get the wheel in and cost $279. I ask about aftermarket wheel, and they dont know of any for the blast. After this service is done I am looking for another shop to go to. I dont recommend Motown for anything. Even Harley riders I talk to dont. I live in Taylor, Mi any recommendations on shops would be appreciated. I just bought the back last year, and have never owned one before.

Jugaloo94, I would strongly suggest you invest in a shop manual for your bike. Do as much as you can on your own. I cant speak about any dealership in your area but, as you can tell in this board, good dealers are few and farrrrrrrrrr between. Buells are easy to work on and dont require an advanced degree to do general maintenance on. Good luck and safe riding!

Just as a datapoint to keep this in perspective, this is a quote from another mc list I am on...

quote:

Hi Everyone,

I traded-in my Radian this afternoon.. kind of sad to see it go actually. Wish I could afford to hang onto both bikes, but frankly keep getting hosed by the local Yamaha dealership in town, and will likely never purchase the brand again.

Anyways, I still have a few parts kicking around that I will part with if anyone needs em...

Like my Buell dealer experiences, some of my Yamaha dealer experiences were good, some were bad. And on the bad ones, people feel the need to vent.

And yet on another note, I've never had a good experience with any of the 4 Buell dealership in my area. Oops, I lied, they did do a good job on my 500 mile check up.

I'm a new Bueller. I had a good experience as far as parts by email/mail with Suburban Motors H-D/Buell in Thiensville, WI. http://tinyurl.com/97qfr

I wanted an M2 tach kit and a service manual (both not in stock). They took my order on Wednesday, got and shipped my full order the next Monday and I had them on Wednesday, one week after the order. And I got a nice discount off retail for placing an email order.

That is a one time thing so far but I'll give Suburban a try the next time I need parts. My local HD-Buell place is very HD and has not had a part I've asked about yet.

I'm wondering if Suburban is not closer to the parts warehouse being in Wisconsin.

Needless to say, results can vary.

Earl Small's (Marietta, GA) has about abandoned the Buell line and demonstrates no apparent Buell interests whatsoever. The only thing Buell was a sign outside and a couple new Buells. Staff (including the service manager) admitted not knowing much about Buells. Apathy reigns.

After I specified D205s, they still mounted D207s on my wheels (I brought in off the bike) and mounted the wrong size. Only after much persuasion, they did get the right tires on. Plus they demonstrated attention to detail and technical knowledge by chipping the Nuke Blue powder coating off the lip of both wheels. (First time in over 45k miles) And.... they wouldn't honor the price quoted nor adjust the price for bringing the wheels in off the bike or considering the 2 trips (4 hrs R/T each)

I subsequently called back for a tire quote and was given different prices each time for the same make/size tire.

I'm weary of the attitude and the grief it brings with these "Harley" dealerships....

The reason Harley-Davidson Dealers do not give a
BUELLschitte about dealing with BUELLs is the mark up($$$$$$$$$) is not like the BIG TWINs ...

If it is not a BIG TWIN or a SPORSTER the "TECHNICIANS" go BRAIN DEAD and so does the rest of the employee's ...

After all a BUELL is just a SPORTSTER on "STEROIDS" ...

"BEWARE OF PUTTING A TECHNICIAN AND A BUELL TOGETHER, THERE WILL BE TROUBLE" !!!

Was just in Houston, TEXAS and stopped by Mancuso H-D/BUELL off the I-610 north loop ... Ask one of two employees standing together where the BUELL stuff was ... The answer was BUELL does not make any BUELL clothes anymore ... I said that's BUELLschitte and your DEALERSHIP sells BUELLs and sponsors a BRAG CLUB, plus you have 3 BUELLs on the floor ... The answer to that was the BUELL DEALER was on the west side of Houston ... "I" just walked out !!!

COULD THOSE KIND OF BUELLschitte ANSWERS BE THE
REASON BUELLS DO NOT SELL WELL !!!

Just for those that have not met him, Buellistic *was* a certified factory mechanic for Harley for a long time, has experience in history of Harley racing since before many of us were born, and has a lot of experience on both sides of the Harley counter.

His S3 has more miles on it then many of our cars, and few parts of it have not been reworked, most to last longer or work better.

The bike may look like it rolled right off a Mad Max soundstage, but it works well and has lived a very long time.

So while nobody likes dealer rants, some people are more entitled to them then others....

Yeah S2pengy... I came over from B'ham for just a set of tires. I won't be back @ Earl Smalls. Stone Mtn has their act together and it shows when they did a great job @ TWO this spring.

Just a quick note on FREDERICK BUELL/h-d in Frederick MD.

Today, while on a ride, my speedo went dead. First time I've had anything fail on my '03 'Bolt. Anyway, we were near Williamsport H-D/Buell and stopped in. They could look at it in a few hours. But, if it was the speed sensor, they didn't have the part. I asked if they would call Frederick. They did. They had the part, and said to bring my bike straight it.

45 minutes later, I was in and they were getting ready to go to it. The sales staff, always friendly and willing to talk (when they have a moment, sometimes they're a little busy) asked if, while I'm waiting for my bike I'd like to take a test ride on a Street-Rod.

By the time I got back (ok, I took it to a few twisted roads, then hit the interstate just to get a feel of the new 'power cruiser'). My bike was ready to go and they hoped I'd be able to finish my day or riding. I told one tech how much I appreciated them being there on a Sunday. He kind of 'Aw shuck'ed' and told me the rotation was easy on the staff, so it was cool with him.

I was out of there in under two hours.

FREDERICK BUELL (h-d) is not only pro-Buell, But working on even better customer service. They get my nod for a good place to go!}

I can recommend avoiding Glendale (CA)HD/Buell. I went there based on their sponsorship of the local BRAG chapter and local Buell racing. It was a less than satisfactory experience.

It started with a broken latch on the saddle bag on my S3. They got it open for me, but said I needed to make an appointment for replacement. I showed up at 10:30 for my 11:00 appointment and was planning to wait. They did not touch the bike until 2:30 and came back to me at 3:30 to tell me they did not have the part. Five hours wasted!

They called next week to say they had the part. I made another appointment because I also wanted the rocker box gaskets replaced. Once again I show up for a 11:00 appointment. Three hours later they come out and say the latch is replaced, but they had other "priorities" and could not due the work I made the appointment for. Not only did they not due the work needed, the latch they replaced managed to make the saddle bag not latch properly.

My suggestion is to avoid Glendale HD/Buell if you actually want service.

If anyone is ever near Clarksville, TN or Fort Campbell, KY go by Appleton's H-D/Buell. Very good dealer IMO. Fairly knowledgeable, and they at least make an effort to find stuff if you ask. They are trying, unlike several other dealers I've been to recently.

Till now I only have good things to say about my dealer, Barnett-HD in El Paso.
Then it was time to buy a new bike I had my eye on a 05 Triumph Speed Triple or a Buell XB12S or R.
Because my local Triumph Dealer (the only one in 5h radius) didn't wanted my money (even I wanted to pay cash) I went to Barnett-HD to look at the Buells.
I didn't even looked for a minute at a black XB12R as a salesman (Glen was his name) came up and started talking to me. Because I liked the red, he took me to the back and showed me a red one in a crate. To make a long story short I ended up buying a black one the next day, and had it the day after in my hands.
Every time I come into the store and Glen is there we have a smalltalk.
As it was time for the first service I went on friday to the service department and got a spot the next day in the morning! It took 3 hours and I had my bike back. The best for me was that I had to pay "only" $206, after I was told from Glen that it was around $260.
Two days ago I had a problem with the oillines to the oilcooler. Just to see that happened I took it to the dealer yesterday afternoon, and right away a nice lady wrote down a worksheet for my bike(was on warranty). She said it will be ready in 1 hour! At the end it took till today in the morning, but it is fixed for free.

Despite many people complained about Barnett-HD, till now I have a very good experience with the people there and would for sure by a bike again from them.

Thanks
Rene
