Ara, here are the pics I promised you. This first one is where I had the L fitting coming out. This idea was scrapted after I was concerned that puke will somehow get to the rear wheel!  I plugged the breather hole on the race cleaner, used my existing T and routed the hose up under the tank and down next to the battery.   Finally, I cut the hose (which was reaching all the way back to the lic. plate) and I terminated it with a vent filter just under the brake oil resevoir.  | ||

Kahuna, Great pictures, very illustrative, thanks! If I may, let me direct your attention to the extensive discussions with Jose and others in the early archived entries on this part of the BBS. In those discussions Jose conviced me that due to the design of the rocker boxes and gravity, liquids that find there way to the breather fitting cannot return to the engine. If your breather fitings point upward (as the factory orients the rear one and as I see in your photo), the breather fitting itself will trap some liquids in it. That serves as a sort of liquid plug in your breather system. When enough liquid is trapped there the force of air in the breathers will tend to blow some of it out, but not all. As a result of that discussion, I altered my breather system (which was somewhat like your own). If you're interested in the photos, check out the archive here in the early November timeframe. this is what i've done and it works well for me. use 90 degree fittings, shorten the spigot end to clear the carb mount and frame tube better if you want. point the fittings downward so there is no internal pooling [oil cannot flow back into the heads anyways]. route the hoses along the inside of the frame tubes and tuck them through the gap in frount of the drive pulley. route the hoses back to the rear shock eye and zip tie in the appropriate position. i route my lines so that they face outward just above the shock eye on the carb side, you may add filters if you want. i have had this setup on two s1's. all you see is a little puff of condensation when the engine is cold. | ||

 Thanks ! Aaron !?  I think I have a blown seal. After a high speed ride in the florida twistes yesterday I noticed a lot of spitting from tranny vent hose/breather. Pulled the clutch cover and about a pint overfull ! drained it, refilled it corectly, checked engine oil level, ok. I'll ride today and see if its overfull again. Blown seal  | ||

Junstar, I'm sure that's a Jaz catch can. They call it the "1 Pint Mini Breather", their part number is 605-375-01 with 3/8 inch nipples, and it retails for $45.95. Their web site is www.jazproducts.com. I still want to know about those hoses! Sandstorm??? Russ | ||

Sorry guys  I haven't been back here for a while. I've been doing the finishing touches on the TORQUE MACHINE . Didn't think anyone would be this interested in what I had done. I actually bought the hose through a catalog called Grainger. Where I work we do a lot of business thru this company. You can check out their website at, www.grainger.com AND the catch can is actually a Jaz catch can, painted silver. I hated that DULL black. I'll provide more pics soon | ||

Holy Sh t...the price per foot on the blue hose on the Jegs website is extremely high. I only paid $.52 a foot thru Grainger. I purchased a 5 foot section and it was plenty. | ||

Sandman, I was thinking that if you got your blue hose from Jegs that must be independently wealthy or something! Have you got the web site for Grainger? Also, the Jegs web site says you can't use hose clamps on that stuff. Does that square with your experience? Russ | ||
