I just recently replaced the lifters on my '01 X1 with the CompCam hydraulic roller lifters. When I fired up the bike after finishing the job, there was an EXTREMELY loud clanging coming from the motor and the idle was higher than normal. I goosed the throttle a little to see if some oil just needed to get down to the lifters and cam. This didn't help.

I knew the loud clanging couldn't be right, so I went back to double check all of my work. Everything checked out okay, but the noise was still there. I ended up putting the stock lifters back in and the bike sounded fine again.

I have no idea what is wrong with the CompCam lifters. I'm thinking that my parts store may have sold me the wrong ones. I compared the stock ones with the CompCams and they appeared to be the same, but obviously they didn't work right. The part number on the CompCam lifters is 850-1 CS O-E HYD Roller Lifter. Does anybody know if this is the correct lifter for the Buell motors? Thanks
