Started up my bike this morning and had a large quantity of Fuel come pouring out of the air cleaner. I checked as part of my normal start up and the fuel switch was off so its not a problem of leaving it on all night... Possible Float stuck?
Took off the air cleaner and the fuel was coming out of the bowl vent tube... good sign the float is stuck right?
Im going to pull it down tonight and a little insight would be helpfull,

Float is likely. A speck of crud under the float valve can do it. Float tang doesn't get out of adjustment by itself unless you mess with it. The float pivot pin only goes out one direction, look for an arrow on the pivot pin post. Don't hammer on it as it will break off. By the way, you can run the bike with the stuck float, just have to keep it reved up so the main jet is sucking faster than the float valve is leaking. Don't ask me how I know.

Figured that out this morning limping it back to my house. I pretty much had to cycle the fuel valve on and off to keep the bowl full but not over flowing.

Pretty sure its the stock CV but how can tell the difference between it and the Mikuni? I'm going to check the jetting and idle screw adjustment while I'm at it. Are the jets marked or is there another way to check the jet sizes?

jets are marked -- btw, sometimes a rap with a screwdriver handle will dislodge whatever is stuck in there

Thanks Bomber

Previous owner installed a Pingle petcock that drops straight down instead of the 90 deg of the stock one so been working with a couple different setups to keep the fuel line from pinching shut making the turn, Thought an inline fuel filter that made the 90 deg would be a good solution.
Anyone got suggestions on an inline fuel filter?
Good or Bad idea? Any preferences on make?

fuel filter good!

90 degree (for you) better!

the sort spendy ones from hot rod shops will flow more than NAPA ones, and it would be a shame to have a $100 petcock whose flow was strangled by a $2 fuel filter, I'm thinkin

try Jegs, Summit, and like that

I pulled my carb down last night pulled the bowl and cleaned everything up. In the process I checked the jets (195 main, 45 slow) and set the idle mixture screw at the 2 1/2 out from full in (It was setting at about 1.) Started up the cycle and once fuel ran back into the full system it and I adjusted the idle adjustment screw (knob on '97) in a bit from just making contact (bout a full turn) it purred like a lion. It idled well with the enricher full out and once warm idled fine at about 1100 RPM (again slightly tweeked the adjuster knob to reach the desired RPM's.)
All good right? Wrong! Went to start it up this morning and had the same problem all over again; Fuel leaking out the air cleaner and Enricher kills the engine. Lucky I hadn't left the house yet.
What gives?

Bomber, I will check with Jegs and Summit to see it the have what I am looking for, thanks for the tip.

D -- you may need a new float -- sometimes they becoming gas-logged (?, and no longer, er, float

that, you you've got a poop-load of spooge in your gas tank/line -- recommend diconnecting at carb and running the gas into a clear glass container

last to check it the needle valve seat itself (the part that attached to the float) they can wear over time, and refuse to seal

the good news is that you can buy a float and a needle valve seat all for less (far less) than 20 cash dollars murican

I second what Bomber says, new float and needle. Use a strong light to look inside the needle seat. I had my carb off 4 times while on a trip and was preparing to epoxy what I thought was a sinking float, before I found the tiny piece of clear plastic that lodged in mine. And while you're at it, put on a new carb to manifold seal if yours has any age on it (once you pull the carb 3 or 4 times, it loses that tight fit that makes the bike happy.)
