Donn,
Maybe I was too subtle in my last post,,,
What are your plans for your old Boss slip on?
I'm thinking one would look really good on my M2.
If you're looking to move it, I'm interested.

Josh:

Huuh?? 2" maybe that travel distorted your eyes. I though that all headers from 98' and on up had 2.5". BUt maybe we are not taking into account the wall thickness :+}.

But it is hard to tell if the angle of the dangle is down or just the viewpoint.

Sorry, 2.5" inlet diameter, 2" inlet *length* as that was being discussed earlier.

I'm ordering the Stainless today. If I have time I'll try to dyno Race muffler vs Stainless vs ASWRacing resonator before I give KevynS12T his muffler back

Thanks Kevin, Have you made up with Trish a littel bit more yet ? something about putting your bike toys before her present ...?
Brad: I had missed your subtlety..ping me off line. The Boss is a bit scratched up and such but if you want it I'm sure we can figure out a value.

Thanks for posting the sizes Josh. Awesome if you can get real world comparisons !

Youre right about the angle of the dangle Steve. The Race pipe is at an angle. See picture below.

I noticed that 911 up there didn't like the new D&D system and I am curious as to why? It's time to retire the factory exhaust on my 98 S3T and I was going to give the new D&D system a spin.

Has anyone seen or heard one of these things yet?

Pictures are on here on SportTwin.com (one of BadWeb's sponsors along with ASB.
The D&D is flat black, squarish, and $125 more than the Stainless pipe and ~$60 more than the race muffler from Chicago HD(w/ their 20% off).

I think BuellieDan has one.

I'm not thinking just the muffler here. I'm talking the whole shootin match, pipes and all.

I do have the D&D but not yet installed due to having the old front bracket still on my bike. It is a beautiful system and the pipes each come seperate from the collector making it a breeze to install plus more able to be installed without putting undo pressure on any point.

The muffler is not square though. It is very round and looks like a squat glasspack.

Iwill be getting the new bracket probably around March and then will give a progress report at that time. I had a brand new supertrapp that I wanted to break in for a few miles before putting the D&D on. Then I have to make a decision whether to keep the WB or the Trapp for my other bike.

Oh yea,
I become the proud owner of a 96 Parkway Blue S2T tomorrow!! Life is good!!! :)

Brad,

I will be bringing the S3 and S2 to Colorado but not sure if the X1 will be back together by then. I currently have it in several pieces in my garage. :)

Hey All,
I was at a dealer today and was flippin through a Drag catalog with the parts guy and we came across a WileyCo slip-on. This pipe is around $300 (I don't remember exactly) but it comes with a LIFETIME warranty! This sales guy was telling me that most of their customers are using V&H but has heard more than a few had to be replaced due to cracking. It was also about the same price as the Super Trapp. Any comments on either of these pipes? I like LIFETIME warranties!

2b,
The Daytona Boss also has a lifetime warranty.
Supertrap also really stands behind their products.
Lots of good pipes available out there. All are an improvment over the stocker.

Who can tell me the difference between the Proseries Race muffler partnr.65398-96YB for 97-98 models and the Proseries Race muffler partnr.91424-99YA for 99>up models??? They look like pretty the same to me?!
I know there is a difference between the headers because of the O2 sensor for injected models...

Thanks Stoef

Can anyone tell me how to mount a Force exhaust system? It is new but did not come with any instructions. It has a wrap around aluminum bracket, a twisted two holed rectangular piece of metal 3" long, a twisted 3" long piece with two oblong holes, a fixed rear bracket, and assorted nuts/bolts/washers. I have the factory replacement bracket and it seems more durrable than what Force supplies - can I use it? I'll contact Force but it's too late now.

Stoef- I believe the the difference is that the header pipe on the 98's and older are 2inches and the 99 and newer are 2.5" (or 2 1/4 I don't remember exactly)

Roc - I know that the guys of Vallejo, CA Harley Davidson Buell are the guys to ask. HD Vallejo are VERY in to Buells unlike some of the other HD Dealers. They have a team that races in the AMA. Of course I have no idea where you're located so this may be of no help to you what-so-ever. But they helped me over the phone today so I happened to think of them when I read your post.

E'gads,

You'd think that someone could help Roc out with all the Forces installed. Roc, head over to ATC's site cuz there was a discussion about the header and forcewinder 2 days ago. Look for AZ Biker and Forcewinder in the messagebase.

When you get it all figured out, why not post a few pictures of its' installation.

S'later,

Don't know if your e-mail address is correct in your profile? If so, you have a couple of digital images of the force installed.

Cheers,

Any tricks for polishing headers? I am thinking of pulling mine and cleaning them up. Before I had my whole breather setup worked out, I was dripping on one the header and it looks pretty ugly in a couple spots.

I assume you just pull the thing, start with a medium grit, and just sand away with progressively finer grits until it looks the way you want. I have a detail sander if necessary, but I am assuming hand work will be the way to go.

Anyway to treat the thing when I am done to keep it looking good?

Or should I just pack the silly thing up and get it coated?

Bill

I started with steel wool #4 and Mothers polish, mine was badly stained. Then went to a finer steel wool, finished with cloth & Mothers polish. Shined like crazy until I reinstalled and started it up; though it did stay a glossy golden/wheat color which looked better than before. I thought any sandapaper would leave unwanted texture. Jet hot would coat & ship back for about $120 6 months ago when I checked it out. It is great looking coating, I have it on my new Force exhaust.

Bill:
Header polishing 101:
I used a 4.5 grinder with "Bear-Tex" pads to remove the mfg marks and brushed finish.
Next was a medium (green) Bear-Tex pad with Mothers
Next a cloth with Mothers.
It will turn golden but the alternative is a coating.

Last night I polished my new Supertrap IDS. I cheated, I did step 1, then used a polishing wheel with Mothers followed by the hand job, followed by Denova shine. Only problem with Mothers, IMHO, is that it is abrasive and can scratch aluminum if used too vigorously (that's why I like Denova or Simichrome). BTW, it looks GREAT polished!

Not without moving the stock air filter out of the way. A muffler is needed too.

O2 Sensor mounting: I've been thinking of mounting an O2 sensor on my Race Header. I'll probably go with one sensor in the rear header in the same location as stock - only turned so you can get to the header nuts. Does anyone have a source for the bung that the sensor screws into? I'd want one that is deep/thick enough so that only the tip of the sensor protrudes into the header.

I can't tell you where to get a good one, but I can tell you NOT to use the K&N one. It's too thin. I ended up making a custom one from a 1" diameter stainless rod.
